Updating navigation?
My wife has an 03 MDX with the full audio video package. What is the best way to update the maps and info on the navigation system? Is it a matter of paying out the ars for new discs?
Also, has anyone experienced problem with the system? Sometimes when she hops in and turns the car on the system freezes on the navigation screen making it impossible to move on to the climate functions. Has this happened to anyone? If so, how was it fixed?
Thanks!

Do a google search for what you need. When I had my '04 MDX I was able to D/L a disk for it in '08. But make sure the disk is for an '04 model. Or you can buy from Guys advertising on the internet. For $40 you can buy a disk sent to you. $200 thru dealer.

If anyone has ever had issues with the navi freezing or acting like its on a loop, chime in here! I had a chance to look at it with her and its really annoying! I turn the car on and the screen just sticks on the opening screen with the picture of the stars and the acura sign. It acts like its going to reboot and sometimes it will ask for the security code but the screen is frozen so i cant enter it.
WTF!

What is Acura's policy for provision of update discs ? Do they provide updated maps for cars under warranty, extended warranty, or none of the above ?
And how often are maps updated ?
I have found the maps on 09 MDX to be awfully out of date. It's probably not Acura's fault but the map provider's, but I can't find a ton of POIs that ought to be in there. I should compare to my Garmin to see if there's a difference in rperesentation.

Updates aren't included. You can sometimes get the firmware updates that are bundled with the navigation from the dealership during service but Nav updates you have to pay for. They come out yearly in the fall and are about $185. Very pricey for out of date maps.
The maps for the Austin, Tx area a 4-5 years out of date and are missing major highways!
