Towing with an 02 MDX

hey,

is it a smart idea to tow a boat that weighs about 3500-4000lbs with an 02 mdx... know that it has a pretty Weak transmission..

would towing this at least once of month affects the MDX transmission?

Do you know if the MDX has the tranny and power steering coolers installed? If not, I would not even consider it.

I wouldn't do it, as far as I know pretty much most of the trannies for just about every acura that was made in 01-03 had some form of a recall, dont chance it.

We tow our boat with it and think it actually does quite well. We do have an 04 which has less issues with the trans then your 02. Also have the factory tow package mainly the oil and trans coolers.

We have a 21' wakeboarding boat so is about 4000 lbs and have been towing with it for the last 3 years probably 1-2/week during March - October. It is quite hilly here and most of our trips are probably 30 miles round trip. I also do change the trans/rear diff/transfer case oil more often and keep it in D4 as has been suggested in previous treads.
