Torn front brake dust boot
I was changing the front rotor on my MDX and I noticed that one of the piston dust boot around the caliper is torn. There is no leak as far as I can see. I see online that the whole caliper can be replaced and rebuilt but it requires disconnecting the brake lines and pushing the whole piston out. It seems like it is not easy to put the dust boot on with the piston in place.
Has anyone tried to replace the dust boot without rebuilding the whole caliper? Is it easy to remove and install the dust boot with the piston in place?
Thank you for any input and advice.

Yes, it looks like it is doable with the piston in place. But from the caliper rebuilt videos online, it seems difficult to get the dust boot into the groove without removing the piston. Therefore, I am wondering if anyone has experience with putting the dust boot on the MDX calipers.
Thank you for your input.

I had one boot replaced in place using a couple of flathead screwdrivers. Removing / installing the snap ring is more difficult than removing the old boot or inserting a new one.
Proper boot grease is the key to success.
