Strut mounts 2004
Called the dealer as I am getting the struts replaced and asked them if they had the strut mounts in stock. The parts guy insisted they rarely go bad and they shouldn't need replacing. Is this true? Car has 140K on it. The guy replacing struts insisted on OEM mounts. Not sure what to do.

Not sure specifically on the MDX, but conventional wisdom indicates to change them. When I did my Impala the rears looked fine, but the fronts showed obvious signs of wear, I mean- they're made of rubber. I would guess $50 bucks for a set.. why not do them? But like I said, this is just general thinking, specifiics on the MDX could be different.

Cruisin'
It's not the strut mounts that goes bad. It's the strut bearings that wear out and causes vibration issues. I just changed my entire suspension and my bearings were chewed up. This was the OEM suspension when I bought the car new. I'm going to be posting something I learned while replacing my suspension. I think a lot of people will find it interesting. Just have to get some more pics before I do. Hope this helps
