BLUF: 2011 MDX with 140k miles, daily driver, sat over weekend in garage while on trip, came home and all of a sudden got multiple (never have had before) errors: SH-AWD, Emission System & Trailer Stability assist all at once. Plus P030X MIL/DTC on the nav screen
Detail: Did the spark plugs about 30k miles ago, have never done the coil packs but thought it was weird i would get all of these amber lights on the dash plus the misfire codes on 2 of the cylinders. Because of work and upcoming weekend funeral with family i opted to do the dealer route. Knew it would be costly but had to get the family car back on the road. Went to Hiley Acura in Ft. Worth and came back with cylinder misfire on 1 and 4 - remediation is coil and plug. Could probably get away w/o replacing the plugs, but if we're in there might as well since its been long enough.
Went ahead had all 6 plugs and coils replaced. Last time i did the plugs was a PITA.
Cost breakdown from dealer (yes, i know parts can be had from here for alot cheaper like here, but time is money)
6x of 30520-RN0-A01 (coils) - $76.95ea ($461.70 for all 6)
6x of 12290-R40-A01 (spark plugs) - $41.22ea ($247.32 for all 6)
Labor @ 3hrs - $490.98
Total not including tax - $1200
$1200 down the drain. Coils and spark plugs was not your problem. Well, at least you don't have to worry about them later.
I wonder why dealership charges 3 hours of labor than it takes 20 min to do all spark plugs and coils...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Took me along longer than 20mins to the plugs last time. Especially 2 and 3, firewall driver side. Again time is money. Misfire P030X DTCs are cleared - not sure thy coils/plugs wouldn't solve that issue. As for all the other lights? Ive seen weirder combo of issue fixed by un-related items
