Seeking Help with Offer on 2012 MDX

I am going to make an all cash offer on the 4WD 2012 MDX the with Entertainment and Technology Packages. With these options, its $44,965 invoice and $48,605 MSRP.

i'm going to add Back up sensors - $585.00 and Body Side Molding - $245.00.

Holdback is 3% of Base MSRP, which is $43,030 (without options) = $1290.00.

FTD Incentives/Rebates = [Do any exist? I'm not a current Acura owner]

Destination is $895.00

Dealers True Cost would be $44,965 Invoice - $1290 holdback, or 43,675. So, if I offer 3% above the dealer's true cost of $43,675 (or 1310.25), that equals 44985.25. Adding in the $245 Body Side Molding + $585 Back Up Sensors + $895 Destination Fee = $46,710 (not including sales tax and tags).

Does that seem reasonable or am I missing something?

I don't know what area of the country you are in, or how many Acura dealers are near you. I don't know if you are willing to buy one from out of state or across the country if you were to get a good deal.

I am in the Dallas, Tx area and just bought a 2012 Tech last month. We added the body side moldings, all weather floor mats, wheel locks, cargo cover, and cargo net.

The MSRP before accessories was 47490. We received a discount of 5257.00 for a sale price of 42232.99 before the accessories. The cost of the additional accessories came to 695.96 for a selling price of 42928.68

So we ended up at $46000.00 out the door with 2683 in tax, 180 in doc and license fees, and 208 in non tax fees. HOWEVER, the dealer threw in 1000.00 additional cash at closing! We put 6000.00 down and financed 39000.00, for an effective price of 45000.00 OTD!

In my opinion, if you offer 46710.00 before tax, title, ect for the vehicle you are leaving money on the table. Your MSRP is only about 1100.00 more than ours was, plus you are adding about 140.00 more in options total then us. Adding your extras to my deal brings you to about 44170.00 before any additional 1000.00

We have never owned an Acura before, and did not own one of the cars listed as having "conquest cash" available towards the purchase of an Acura. Just had a great dealer and salesman willing to work with us on our purchase.

Two things, I would not get the entretaintment package. Think about this, $1900 additional for a couple of extra features, the big one being a single screen that blocks the rear view mirror when in use? Get two iPads and you'll be saving money.
Secondly, where you are is important, I just got my 2012 tech for just a little over 40k before fees and taxes.
42,120 otd, before accessories. I will be taking delivery tomorrow after accessory install

He might like the heated rear seats though.

Chazari, that sounds like a reasonable offer. Try to bounce that against several Acura dealers in your area to see if any bite. When I bought my Accord, I offered I think 2.5% above invoice-holdback.

Oh, I understand the monitor is not the only thing, but logic tells me that if you want the entertainment system is because you have kids, if you have kids they will be using car seats, and if they are not using car seats they are old enough that will be in their own screens (phone texting, PSP, iPod or whatever else) so they won't care about the one in the car. So the benefits of the rear seat heather are not that great. And if you want to pay the extra money for the screen, outlet and seat heathers, that's fine, IMO they are not worth it, in as much as I wish that the seat heathers were not packaged with the RES

Finding one with 4WD was not that difficult but I would only consider the Ent. if you have kids. Save the money on Ent and get the Advance. Save your money on the BU sensors too because the camera shows you what you are going to back up into so the beep only tells you what you already know.

Hmm

I just pressed my local dealership here in Oregon and he says he doesn't know how you guys are getting the deals you are. He is quoting $43,631 including shipping. I'm not getting the feeling he is going to budge...he already quoted me less than the sticker price of $48

Is a 3,000 mile drive worth the savings? Come to the east coast....
Is that before taxes? That may be considered a good price....how does it compare with the true car value?

Nice, how much did you negotiate the car down to and what were the other fees?

Yup, but that varies from dealer to dealer and from state to state... wanted to see what the price of the car was before all the fees.

MDX's have $1500 factory to dealer right now (June 1st '12). The additional $1K loyalty/conquest applies only if you finance.

The way it turned out for me is I got both ($2500), and if you're looking to pay cash then finance anyway to get the $1k off then pay it off after a month. Win-Win!
