Navigation stopped working

So my Navigation just stopped working on my 2007 MDX. Message says DISK ERROR UNFORMATTED. Comes back on when I restart the car. then goes out again. Someone told me my DVD Drive is probably failing. I am assuming it is the one under the drivers seat. Hoping someone may have an ideas how to get it to work without replacing it. Possibly a new navigation disk? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Yes the Disk drive is under driver/passenger seat. I would suggest to try another Navigation CD, may be try with a friend who has 2007-2009 MDX?

I would pop out the disc to see if it's scratched up, if it's scratched up...it could be from the laser mechanism hitting the disc...which would mean the drive is going out...
I wouldnt spend the $100 for a new disc...only to find that the drive is going out..
you could possibly try a used disc from ebay.....pop out the disc to find the name of the company and the model or disc version...which you will need so that you can get the very same one.

I also believe Pioneer is the manufacture of the dvd drive...they do have a refurbishing program...send them the drive and they'll fix it for you. is it worth whatever the price they ask? dunno...
or you could try buying a used unit from ebay

Like Justspace posted, look for one on ebay. MDX had following color coded discs per model years

MDX Years - Disc Color:
2001-2002 - black
2003-2004 - orange
2005-2009 - white
2010-2013 - green

So You should be looking for a White Navigation Disc on eBay. Buy the cheapest one available.
