MDX SUV/Truck

I'm curious and would appreciate opinions. I've never owned, or wanted to own, a SUV but, I'm considering the MDX to replace a V70 wagon.
Does the drive and handling characteristics simply scream truck? Does it handle at all like a RL or TL?
I have owned Volvo wagons since 1972 and always appreciated the added space.
The new TSX wagon looks too small.

I've owned / currently own a 03 TL-S, 04 MDX, 10 MDX, 10 Tundra. The new generation MDX's have a sportier ride but they still have a fully independent suspension vs. a true truck with a solid rear axle. I would never call the ride of our MDX a trucklike ride. Nor would I say it handles like the TL. IMO, its in between. Go to your dealer and drive one!!!

Can you elaborate abit more on the ride differences between your 04 MDX and 10 MDX?

I've drive a loaner 2010 MDX Tech. Very nice and solid ride, quite sporty IMHO, stable and firm, but not overtly firm like my TL ; the ride feels very stable, and doesn't feel like it's going to tip over (unlike that of the Lexus SUVs). I can see why Acura brags about being "tuned at the Nurburgring racetrack."

How would you describe your 04 MDX?

I don't know if its suspension, rim size, lower profile tires, or all of the above but the 2010 has/had a tighter ride than our 2004. Less body roll, better bumb asorption (on smaller bumps anyway). Our 2010 has the adjustable suspension. The 2004 ride is similar to the 2010 ride in "Comfort" mode. My wife uses the comfort mode; when I drive it, I use the "Sport" mode.

Even in comfort mode, it'll be more taught and agile than any Lex RX.

I agree. It's the SH-AWD of the 2007+. Our 2006 with 19s still can't match the ride/handling of the 2G. Our '06 is car-like in steering, braking, and ride quality, but the 2010, for example, has these traits plus better handling and a tighter ride.

I rented a V70 several years back and I would say unless you're looking for a lower ride height, you're not losing much with a SH-AWD MDX.

I've owned an '04 TL, '06 RL, '08 RDX, '10 RDX and now an '10 MDX. The MDX is the RL of crossovers as far as ride and handling; not to mention the beautiful and quiet interior. The biggest negative is road noise on concrete paving. The RDXs rode too firmly, but they did handle a bit better. However, the MDX is very agile and the power comes on smoothly and keeps on going. The TL was a sweet car, but I would have liked about 50 more ponies.
