MDX/Pilot steering linkage free play spec?

Hi folks,

I'm wondering if someone knows or can direct me to the Honda/Acura steering linkage free play specification.

I had a state inspection for my 2004, and one of the requirements is that "steering linkage free play does not exceed manufacturers' specification" - and according to the dealership, the specification is "zero."

But there's a tiny little barely perceptible wiggle in the driver side wheel when you grab the tire and push it left and right, and since that's greater than "zero," they failed it for state inspection and want to replace the driver-side inner tie rod.

So I'm hoping someone can confirm that this is correct, before I go splashing out the money for a repair that seems at least a little bit pointless on a vehicle with only 48,000 miles on it, and irritating in light of the fact that it's a Honda part that ought to last a lot longer than that.
