MDX 2012 not starting easily + weird messages
Hello,
I have an Accura 2012, bought new in 2014, it has 42000 miles.
I live in east and cold season is starting, I park the car outside in the cold.
In the morning, the car does not start easily like usual, it does take sometime; sometimes I think it is not going to start...
what this can be?
this happens when the temp is lower than 40 degrees, and the car stayed outside for a night long.
When the car starts, there are a couple of strange messages: "check emission system", "Check VSA System", "Check SH-AWD SYSTEM", "Check Trailer Stability Assist" , ...
after sometime driving, these messages disappear...
what this can be? I went to Acura and they said battery is ok, and the messages disappeared anyway so they couldn't verify...
Thank you

The three Acura I've owned seem to hate low power. It does take more power to start an engine in winter compared to summer. I always get X-Mas lights of errors until the battery % and system voltage reaches normal levels when my battery was borderline. Most likely driving to Acura recharged the battery enough where Acura didn't notice the battery being the issue. You could probably get a 12v tester to show the battery % at night compared to the morning. Do you have any aftermarket parts that might be pulling power like dash cam, hard wire radar detector, aftermarket audio upgrades, or remote start? You also might have a power drain and a tester is a good way to see how fast it drops your battery. Any way to put the battery on a charger to see how it starts with a 100% charged battery? Most chargers are $35-$75 (get one that shows battery % charge).
I had low battery and slow starts issues when I added a dash cam on my MDX and the OEM battery couldn't keep up with the recording in parking mode. I switched to the Interstate AGM battery and zero issues after +3 years.
