Looking at purchasing a 07-08 mdx

Ive got a 02 tl-s that I am trying to run as long as possible. I had thought that I wanted a mazda cx-9 as my next car but i dont know if i can pass up a good deal on a used 07-08 mdx. I'm seeing 07-08's with about 80k going for about 17-18k. Id rather get a higher mileage acura than a lower mileage mazda.

I've gone through the infamous tranny issues on the tl-s and am wondering if there are any similar type of issues I need to be careful about on the 07 or 08 mdxs'?

Any help is appreciated.

not really. torque convertor maybe, but it is not a rampant issue. also acura lengthened the warranty on the TC.

for the most part 2G MDX is pretty solid.

subscribed. In the EXACT same position as OP lol. Except i've got a '00 TL P

Looking at an '07/'08 mdx as well, just hoping the TL will last me another little while so I can find the best deal possible.

Almost 400,000 km on my TL!

I'm in the same boat too. Have an 02 TL with 210k but i put in an 07 Odyssey tranny and its smooth. WOuldnt hesitate to drive it anywhere. Need size and utility of an SUV and have been reading on mdxers.org. Good info there as some members have bypassed the internal trans cooler located inside of the radiator. THe nipples on the lines tend to rust out allowing coolant to mix with tranny fluid leading to tranny failure. Have seen good deals on 07s and 08s. Good luck with your search. I'll probably pull the trigger next month after my bike is paid off.

I have a 2007 and mine shift very smooth. Also I haven't really heard of any issues with the tranny. There was a software update for the torque convertor. The early 2nd gen MDX's with the 5 speed seem great, but I can't attest to the later 6 speed ones. BTW I def know what you guys are talking about...I used to drive a 99 Accord V6 auto and that transmission was def on its way out before I got rid of it

The 98 and 99 Accords had the tranny issues, I had a 98. The other thing the 98-02 Accords had is a clearcoat paint issue. I can't remember how many of those have terrible paint issues. It's a shame Honda didn't react fast on that issue.
