Keyless Remote Range

Hi, I just bough a 2006 CPO Acura MDX. I am also a proud owner of a 2004 Acura TSX. The question I have has something to do with my Keyless Remote (Factory with Brand New Battery) that comes with my MDX. I have noticed that to lock/unlock the car, I have to be at least 5 steps away from the car unlike my TSX where I can be as far as 20 steps away and the remote would still work.

I have asked the dealer where I bouth the car to check the remote and they said that it has been acting normally. When I asked them how come my TSX Remote works more than twice the distance of my MDX and the Service Advisor just told me that it's a different car. Another issue that I'm having is if I'm at the farthest distance of my MDX. the second click on my remote is not being recognized, unless I move closer. Both remotes are acting the same way and again, i am comparing it with my TSX and other cars that we currently own and previous cars I had.

My questions are as follows;

1. How far can you be from your MDX to lock/unlock the door/s?
2. Do you think the Service Manager is being truthful or just trying to avoid the possibility of replacing whatever on the car or maybe even the remotes?
3. If the Service advisor is just giving some excuses to fix it, is there anybody I can contact direct?

Thank you for in advance for your inputs.

Russell

1. My remote keyless entry work even when I'm more than 20 steps away! I remember being amazed by that a few weeks ago!

2. Truthful?........mmmmm.... Everyone's trying to save money these days.

3. Sorry, don't know.

1. I have to be pretty close, maybe 5-7 steps (15 feet or so). I had a '06 TL that was pretty short on range too. This is opposed to the two Chryelse minivans I have recently had an a Dodge Charger. Both of those almost work from my office (about 500 feet or so). A friend of mine works for GM he said they do providing ground work at 1000 feet for their systems. I think that it is on purpose or just a cheap transmitter/receiver that Acura has never changed over the years.

Red face Key Fob distance

I have to agree. I can't lock/unlock greater than about 20 feet. I have found that certain angles provide better reception too. The Ford I drive at work allows the keyless remote to work up-to around 900 feet. Overall, it is a small inconvenience compared to the huge up-side of the MDX.

Mine is terrible as well.
Also a 2006. I tried changing the battery in the remote. I changed it again to a different brand of battery. And tried to the second remote as well.

I am glad to see that other people are having this problem. Was it an issue with this year car from the beginning? Did anyone buy a new 2006 and noticed the range has been terrible, or is it something that is going to continue to get worse over time?
