Don’t buy AutoZone CV axles!!! Learn from my mistake.
Hi guys,
Well a little backstory, a month or so back I got the typical pop noises and confirmed that grease was leaking out from my axle boots. I picked up some “New” axles from Autozone for about $205 for the pair (fronts). I paid my mechanic since I don’t have any tools at the place im currently staying, talked him down to $200 for the labor. After the install I drove off and later noticed the vibration in my steering wheel and pedal. The minute vibration was felt around 2.5-3k rpm at around 20-30mph and 60-70mph. After that, I did a bunch of research but couldn’t find concise answers. I knew it had to be these axles, so I ordered some Acura OEM ones on a third party acura parts website for about $600 with a $150 core charge. Went back to my mechanic, he told me the driver side was remanufactered and the passenger side was new….. He was trying to say it was a problem with my tires but I doubted it. Paid him again for labor since it wasnt really his fault and now the 09’ runs smooth again. Autozone took back my axles without any questions (chill young gentlemen) however i’m still waiting on my refund (3 days in). Please learn from my mistake, Save time and money by going OEM!
