Cost estimate to fix J37 oil consumption issue
Does anyone have info on the parts and labor cost for the dealer to fix the oil consumption issue? ie replacing pistons, piston pins, and rings. Oil consumption test shows 2 quarts down after 1000 miles. Thank you. Vehicle at just over 100,000.

18 hours of labor is given for this job, at a price in the range of $2000-3000 depending on the state, plus up to $2000 parts. That's why I took the DMSO and it cost me $200 in 2018.

Thank you. I’ve heard elsewhere that the use of DMSO and other solvents does not provide a lasting solution so that’s encouraging to hear.

The DMSO washes absolutely any oil deposits, the main disadvantage of the DMSO is that it destroys the plastic in the friction parts and peels off the paint, but it’s lucky that our engines don’t have anything else, that’s why it’s bingo. What to do with your engine is up to you, good luck.
