Considering moving from RL to MDX

I currently own a 2007 RL Tech and am considering replacing it with a 2010 MDX with advance package. If anyone has moved from an RL to a MDX, especially with the electronic suspension, I would like to hear your thoughts on ride quality, pros and cons of the MDX with the RL.

Thank-you in advance for your time and thoughts.

I have a 2007 RL Tech also and am considering the same move to an MDX but not until 2011 or 2012. Will be at the Philadelphia Auto Show in 2 weeks looking at options and competitors.

The RL's ride is a whole lot better tuned to the car than the ADS system on the MDX IMO. Sport mode is great overall though smooth city (little bit of bumps) and the highways. I leave my MDX in sport mode, on the highway it's way to bouncy for my tastes.

I haven't seen the new MDX in person, but the build quality on the RL is better than the quality on the 07 I have. I suggest you check it out in person and see how you like it. I think the only way you'd like it after the RL is the fully decked out one with the advance package.

I went for a 2009 MDX and it has the Sport package. The car rides perfectly in comfort mode and the Sport mode while a bit stiffer is fine by any standards. The MDX is a very drivable car. Turning at speeds I never thought possible on regular city streets is the most amazing thing I have done in a long while. My wifes two [2004 and 2006] corvettes and my 2004 and 2007 Acura MDX's could not come close to the way the MDX Sport handles around curves and quick corners. It took a while to trust the Acura and just turn the wheel leaving my foot off the brakes but I am now very good at speed cornering. Go for it if you can float the boat. It's worth it Man.

Thank-you for the replies.

I will definitely keep in mind the fit and finish. I remember the difference from the TL to the RL and wasn't thinking about the MDX not being made in Japan.

Luckily, the dealership is going to be getting in an advance package soon, not in the color I want, but I'll take a long drive and try to make more decisions.

Its great to hear positive feedback on the ride quality with the Advance package. I'll be interested in how it feels from the RL to the MDX.

IMO, it boils down to whether you want an SUV versus a luxury sedan...apples and oranges.

Okay, no offense here guy, but someone in that household needs to learn how to drive. You're talking about a 4600 pound SUV that according to Car and Driver pulls 0.84g on the skidpad, compared to a 3250 pound sports car that pulls 0.95g (with the Z51 package it's even higher).

One of my best friends has a 2005 Corvette and it's a blast to drive...granted, if you get into the throttle around the corner the tail can get lively, but you need to know how to drive a RWD vehicle. I often get an SH-AWD MDX loaner when we take our MDX in for service. I'll liven things up a bit to test its bondaries and in no way is it a Corvette around the corners.

Not flaming here, I just think you outta explore the Corvette's performance spectrum a little more...

Wife made the jump from 07 RDX to 08 MDX Glade she did ,since i take them over when she's done with them. Found the RDX's ride to be a bit choppy for me personally, I like the MDX much better, not as nible or as quick as the RDX but close. We have the sport W/Ent. and the Comfort Ride button, thers is a differnce from sport mode, little softer for sure, longer wheelbase, just rides more like a luxury vehical should, but when you get on it, it turns into a sports Car/(kinda) no problem... We like the extra room too. Hope that helps. You'll love it!
