4 mm for the front and 5 mm for the rear. MDX is at 25,000 miles.
I am contemplating if I want to order oem pads from one of the great vendors that support this site and have my independent mechanic complete. Or complete them at the dealer. Dealership has a 25 percent off service special. I have probably at least another 5,000 miles or so before the pads need replacing.

First, you are very welcome and thanks for the kind words. Brake pads never go by the miles. How hard you brake, going downhills frequently and so many other factors are involved. I will add a link in the description to a video dedicated to measuring and service limits but if you look at your pads and find only few millimeters lift, it is time for new ones. A good habit to get into is to visually inspect them with every oil change.

This past weekend I changed rotors and pads on both axels on our 2013 MDX. I took the lowest quote from a shop in town, ordered the identical part #s from Autoanything.com and save $580.
Took me 3.5 hours, as I did it in my drive way, and personally test drove after each axle was done. Easy to do and huge savings for the trouble.
I went with Centric rotors and their ceramic pads. Slightly better than stock. The "hat" portion is powder coated, so unlike the cheapo rotors I put on my TL, these won't rust.
