Buying a 2007 MDX

I currently have 05 TSX and it's been running great with 0 problems for 96k miles now! (knock on the wood)

And I need a SUV so I'm looking for 2007 MDX in Seattle area. Tech package is something I am definitely in need of.

I am looking at these two cars:

http://www.hinshawsacura.com/invento...rent=2&size=10

http://www.acuraofbellevue.com/certi...0c3eea290f.htm

What do you think is the right price for these? I am looking to spend about 32k before tax. Am I looking at a wrong car for the money I am willing to spend?

I need your opinions.

Also, let me know if there's something I need to look out for on 2007s.

Thanks!

Those prices are crazy high. I paid under $41k before tax for a brand new '09 Tech in December.

From what I've seen, CPO 2007+ MDX are overly priced here in Seattle.

I've been eyeing one for a while, and it almost seems better to just buy new, or a used 04-06 MDX.

I agree, Prices look way too high. I purchased a preowned 2007 MDX in Jan. 09 for $32,500. Bought it in Arizona and had it shipped to Florida!

The one at Acura of Bellevue is a Sport model and has been in their inventory for a long time (3 months). I made them an offer 4 weeks ago for $34.5, they came back at $36.7 and wouldn't budge...I walked, now its down to $36, was $37.9 when I offered. By the way they're on the Costco Car program which means they'll go lower by $500....when I asked them they said that was with the Costco pricing! Plain and simple they're used to the economy 3 years ago and the old mentality of charging and getting full retail on the Eastside...Boys time to wake up if you want to make a sell. You can find one around $32-$34, I bought a Tech with all the toys for $33.4 at another non Acura dealership. Hope that helps.

I agree. Used MDX are tremendously overpriced at all Acura dealerships here in the Seattle area.

If you don't mind me asking, which dealership did you find your MDX at? You send me a PM if you don't want to post publicly. Thanks.

Can you elaborate on the process a little bit? How did you ensure an inspection of the MDX? Did you inspect the MDX in person in AZ?

I got my brand new 08 MDX Tech for $38k so paying $32k for an 07 in 2010 seems kinda high to me. I found that buying my SUV in August helped out a lot as most people weren't really looking for them during that time of the year. When I bought my 350z I purchased it at the end of the year as well and got a good deal because no one wants a sports car for winter (but me).

Dealership was in Olympia, saw the car a month before purchase, told them they were asking way too much (41.9k), they lowered it a few weeks later by 7k, negotiated from there. I usually ask for an initial inspection report as this tells you how long its been in their inventory (usually dated), dealerships usually like to turn inventory in 30 days.

I went through this for about 30 days or more, shop around & compare prices. The finance guys always get you. We ended up with an 07, fully loaded, certified, tech package for $29k at an 8% interest rate. Good luck!

I appreciate the response. I'll have to keep my eye out on online ads from Olympia when that time comes.

I hear ya mang.

Just purchased a CPO 2007 MDX tech a week ago. Woot Woot!

Here's what i got,
2007 Mdx + tech package
miles: 34K
Warranty: Factory + CPO( full warranty till july 2012 / 62K miles)
Price listed: almost 35K
Price paid: $31K
Area: San Francisco

I did a fair bit of research & found that even in this economy MDX's seemed to hold their value well. ( = overpriced )

Some tips:

- Be willing to walk away, car salesmen can sense desperation.
- Check CarFax records, they usually state when the car was offered onsale. Use this to your advantage. Dealers are losing money every week the car is on their lot.
- Edmunds.com is your friend. Do not pay KBB value typically they will be higher than Edmunds TMV (at least for MDX's).
- Unless you are getting a crazy deal do not compromise on the condition of the vehicle.

After a fair bit of haggling and back and forth with around 6 dealers in the bay area I found that no one was willing to go lower than 30K for a CPO 2007 MDX ( tech) with around 35K miles, unless I was willing to compromise on the quality.

If you find anything lower imho it is a GREAT deal, jump on it.

I hope this sets some kind of baseline for you. I am not sure how seattle will be in relation to SF, probably should be lower.

There are great deals out there make sure you are armed with information and patience.

Ultimately for me it was probably not the best financial deal ... but it was good enough for me.

I did quite of bit of shopping around. Last week, I was able to pick up an 2007 tech with entertainment with only 20,700 miles on it for $31,500 at a 5% interest rate. It was through a small private dealership though so it wasn't a certified used car.

I'm down in TX so this might not help much, but I just bought an 07 CPO MDX w/ Tech & Ent Package + power gate w/ 48K for $30,300 +TTL @ 5.9%. I haggled over 2 days and walked out at one point, so I think I got about as cheap as I could +/- a few hundred bucks I would guess. I shopped the market here for a few months and the going rate is hovering right around 31K for most 07 MDXs.

Good luck
