I've always assumed these links are already greased & ready to go right out of the box. I've used these end links on numerous vehicles & never added any grease to them new & have never had a problem with any of them. There is not a word about adding grease in the instructions.

The ones I recently put on my RDX had the most deflated looking boots I've ever seen on a Moog end link.
Has anyone ever had to add grease to new Moog end links?
Do you guys hit them with a few pumps of grease when installing new as standard procedure?
Over greasing suspension boots is one of the main things that can rupture the boot & cause premature failures, so I'm always real careful not to over grease.

 

I ended up greasing my pair just to find out they DO come pre-greased..
You cant over-grease the Moogs as they have pressure relief holes in the boot (That is how I knew they were pre-greased) the grease they come with is green and very light.

 

When would you expect to receive a grease-able joint, without it having been pre-greased?

Mainly because its grease-able, Some do not come pre-greased presumably because you would choose a higher quality grease?

 

Thanks Skirm. On all the others, the boots looked just right. These latest ones on the RDX just looked different. I was 99.9% sure they should have enough grease in them new, because if they don't say in the instructions to add grease, then there would be 100s of them failing & they wouldn't have the great reputation they have.

I had decided to carefully add a little grease, now knowing they have relief holes & I won't rip the boots is great. That light green grease may be the "Green Grease Multi-Purpose Synthetic Grease" I was looking on Auto Zone website

 

I contacted Moog and they said the end links had a small amount of grease in them simply to prevent shelf rust etc. They said grease them immediately upon install. I also told them to put this info on the freaking package because I wrongly assumed they were adequately greased from the factory!
