About ACURA OEM 17220-RYE-A10 Air Filter
When you guys look at the oem engine air filter, one side is longer than the other because of the 2 tabs that extend down on the side. anyone know why those 2 tabs are there?
Just to be clear, when standing on the left side of your suv facing the air filter housing, the tabs go on the right side of the rectangular filter?

Hmm, I see what you mean. But what I did was replace my OEM filter with a K&N drop in filter which obviously did not have the tabs. No ill effects at all and a slightly more sonorous engine note. About a year so far with the K&N drop in filter.

I just replaced my air filter with the one you mentioned in your first post (the same part number). I didn't notice the tabs and have no idea how it went in or if it would have made a difference. However I put it in, it fit fine.
Of course forgetting to re-connect the electrical sensor for the MAF? sensor did cause a oh-%&^#$ moment when the AWD, Emissions, ABS, Traction, and Trailer Stability lights all came on!
I knew immediately what I did wrong and re-conneted the sensor. I think it took about 5 or 6 restarts before the lights finally went out. I did have to read each message on the nav screen in order to clear those notices.
