Some new info on the V6 engine likely to go into the 2013 MDX.
Completely new lightweight structure
3.5L
310hp
Direct injection
Lo/Hi VTEC,
VCM,
High tumble port,
Pattern piston coating
Low tension piston rings
2 Stage oil pump
Idle stop
May also get the new hybrid electric SH-AWD system as well:
A high-efficiency, high output electric SH-AWD hybrid system which combines superior driving and environmental performance.
・A new hybrid system, electric SH-AWD, was developed for large-sized vehicles. By combining a 3.5L, V6 engine with this hybrid system, acceleration equivalent to V8 engines, as well as fuel efficiency equal or superior to in-line 4-cylinder engines were realized.
・An electric 4WD system with independent 20kW+ motors on both sides for the rear wheels combines a 7-speed dual clutch transmission system with a built-in 30kW+ high-efficiency motor with the engine.
・By mounting a high-performance lithium-ion battery and optimally controlling the front and rear motors, a new hybrid system with high fuel efficiency and output was realized.
・By mounting two independent motors in the rear and employing a newly developed bilateral torque adjustable control system, incredibly tight “on-the-rail” cornering is realized, providing a stable ride for all daily driving environments.

I just leased a 2012 MDX. Discussions at the dealership about model changes leads me to believe that no major change will occur until 2014. No hints are being given that would indicate a model change is planned for 2013. I asked this specific question of my sale man who I have know many years.

Does anyone know where the public can submit design/feature requests to Acura for future MDX models? I car pool a lot and have seen big advancements by other car makers in the area of features specifically greater integration with smartphones and apps. Specifically music apps that stream music from the Internet.
Not sure why I will renew my XM subscription when I can stream music for free or pay for subscription music that allows me to create my custom play list with no commercials. I would hope that Acura can become a leader in this area even though there are talks by USDOT head to limit such tight integration with smartphones.
Thanks.
