2010 MDX front brakes
Just did front pads for the first time on my 2010 MDX.
After watching some videos later on, I noticed everyone changed them from loosening the 17mm nut and not taking out the entire caliper on the 19mm nut. Is there a reason to do one over the other?
Also, my old aftermarket pads had v-shaped spring clips attached to the pads. I installed new OEM pads and didn't see the hole for the clip, and therefore didn't use it. Is that something I need?
After looking on some videos and pictures, I'm getting nervous about driving to work tomorrow morning.

The proper procedure for just replacing brake pads is to remove the brake pad service bolt, move the caliper up and replace the pads..
There is no need to remove the entire caliper from the bracket.
I didn't use OEM pads so I would not know about the clip, My aftermarket pads did not came with a clip like that just the normal bracket hardware. Been riding just fine almost 15K with those pads.
