2010 MDX 160k miles - Massive oil leak, hole in engine block?
Good new, I think I finally found the cause of the oil leak I've been hunting down for weeks, bad news I think there's a hole in my engine block. A few weeks back I first tried cleaning and tracing, no luck. Tried using a UV additive, no luck (looked like a Jackson Pollock painting). It didn't seem like the rear main seal which seems to be a common problem because there was no oil inside the flywheel case cover and I didn't think it was the oil pump since the leak was so far from the oil pump.
Finally after resealing the oil pan and it not helping (the oil pan was a dumb fix/idea in hindsight but thought it might be landing on the drive shaft and spraying it everywhere), I parked the car for a few days and periodically turned it on and off and my friend was able to spot the issue.
First thing, this is the part of the part of the engine I am showing on the borescope. looking here with camera
Noticed this: lots of dark grease/oil here. Further, noticed honey colored oil and shiny "chip"?
Cleaned the area with brake cleaner (used a CAT-5 wire with the strains pulled out as a tube and tapped it to the camera). Didn't get an action shot of that, but notice the oil pooling after.
Here's a video of the "hole", I'm a bit confused about it since it looks so clean (almost looks like its drilled out perpendicular to the viewing angle). How this might happen and where is this in refence to the cylinder? Has anyone seen this? Is there some sensor or something that I'm missing here? (didn't see any pictures online)
