My wife and I recently bought a 2006 MDX Touring w/Nav and the dealer didn't have the Nav disc, so he ordered a used one from 2007. During the time we didn't have the disc, all the screen functions (except Nav) worked great. When he got the disc in, he installed it and had to revert the software version back to the one that supports the 07 disc, which is accessible via a hidden menu accessed by pressing menu/map/cancel at the same time for 5 seconds. In the menu, he clicked version, then download from disc. This downloaded the software from the disc.

When we left the dealer, everything worked perfectly. Later that day, we got back in the car and the Nav system gave us a disc read error. I restarted the car and it worked again. Now, when we get in, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes restarting the car helps, sometimes it doesn't. I've tried taking the disc out and cleaning it (it wasn't dirty).

Thoughts? Gremlins?
