2004 MDX whining sound
Hi,
Need some help!!
Have a 2004 mdx with 84,000KM (est 40,000miles). I am hearing a whing sound at about 60km/hr, but only at crusing rpm. I distincly sound like wind resistance. Took it to the dealership and they did the PCM softwate update, no help. They said its the Torque converter. Read quite a few reviews/service bulletin which seems to suggest this is the problem. The problem is the sound is coming from the back, around the rear muffler/differential. and not the tranny & it shifts perfectly. Independent Tranny shop said it appears not to be the Tranny or Torque converter. No codes.
Any thoughts?

The whining noise could possibly be the air intake system, I discovered the dealer installed a turbo in my '04 to boost gas mileage ratings, when it winds up it sounds like a jet engine starting up.
