'06 Rear Air Conditioner Filter

i seem to remeber reading somewhere that the rear air conditioner blower could fail - in part due to a clogged air filter somewhere near the accelerator. so i decided to look for it to clean it. well, i looked and looked and found only a rather large openenig into the rear of the console - inside i could see an electronic module with a large aluminum heat sink. is my filter missing?

Should be a round metal screen. Its not really a filter.

Picture of '06

all i see is a large opening, and a corresponding one on the passenger side. i see you've got a 2004, maybe they are different? i'm looking at the side of the console to the right of the accelerator. maybe i'm not looking at the correct spo. i took a picture but i don't think this site provides the ability to upload a picture.

You are in the right direction, but wrong location. Looking at the big opening you see right by the pedal - pull the panel below it and keep pulling to the right. It just plastic clips, will pop off/on.

Just pop off the panel on the drivers side console and vacuum out this screen.

excellent! thanks sooooo much! i never thought to pull off the piece with carpet on it along the floor! i was looking for a metal mesh filter without realizing it is behind the carpeted piece. i could not disconnect the rear edge behind the seat, but that was not necessary. i just left that one snap stay connected, and bent the piece far enough away from the console to reach inside. it reminded me of a clothes dryer filter; i needed to roll the dust off with my finger then vacuum. my car has only 50k miles, and this filter was at loeast 50% blocked. i highly recommend this procedure to anyone who hasn't done it yet. fan motor current can rise as this area becomes blocked. that can lead to fan motor or transistor failure..

This is very interesting. I have an 2006 MDX and the rear blower stopped working. I have checked the fuse and it is good. I did a search and found there were problems with 2002-03. Has anyone had an issue with the 2006?
