Exclamation Lamborghini Aventador Roadster - Not for the Faint of Heart - By Oakes

Arguably, one of the most desired exotics on the market, the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster. A 700hp V12 powering something that looks this aggressive and awesome from every angle. What’s not to love? So it would be ashame to see one so poorly handled when it was new, and this is frankly one of the worst examples that I’ve personally seen across any exotic. Fortunately though, I was able to bring her back, and some.

I must warn you though, some of these pictures are not for the faint of heart. And while no one is perfect and things happen in all parts of the industry, there are next to no good explanations or excuses for this example.

Here is this black on black roadster the day it was brought to me, from 15 feet away, looks like the missle launching, tire screeching monster it is. That is, until we get up close…

The vehicle had only 680 miles on it at this point, less than a few months old. So the owner, in proper procedure, opted to have a protective film applied to the main impact areas. Being the full front and the rocker panels, however it did not turn out as hoped.

Various lift and pull marks, dry wrapped edges, hard squeegee lines and just improper placement. The worst however, was yet to come. The wrap overs were compromised and was only a matter of time before they started lifting on their own.

So obviously the first order of business was to remove the existing film and then paint correct the body to get it prepared for new film. After the removal however, I had to make a heart wrenching phone call that no vehicle owner wants. The pictures will show my discoveries.

The film had been cut on the car, no templates used and no care or precision taken in the cutting. It is sometime necessary for film to be trimmed or custom laid, however if proper care is taken, damage like the above is completely avoidable. Some panels were completely compromised, such as the rocker panels and front bumper. Where as the main panels, such as the hood and fenders, were correctable through careful wet sanding and polishing. The following pictures will show the paint condition however in all other areas of the vehicle before my correction process.

In this photo, not only can you see the buffer holograms and paint RIDs, but also the outline attempted around the LP700 emblem. A shaky, permanent outline.

Over the course of a few days, I had the panels removed and sent out for a professional repaint, and then fully corrected the rest of the vehicle. Being a straight, non metallic black, I had my work cut out for me. However, here are some after photos of the corrected, now perfect paint.

After the correction and panels were returned, they were properly re-wrapped in XPEL Ultimate film. In template form, as I am very happy with the template designs from XPEL for this car, it was not necessary to do custom.

Over the course of a few weeks, the finished product was finally what it should have been the day the owner took her home. These pictures show the vehicle in it’s completely finished form, with the full front end and rockers properly wrapped in XPEL Ultimate Clear Film, and then the entire vehicle coated in CQuartz Finest! All done by myself completely. The pictures will finish the story for me from here!

GOOD LORD. I would have killed somebody had they done that to my car.

When I bought my last NBP TL, the previous owner had installed clear film over the front end as well. When I had the film removed and found the same sort of cut lines on the fenders bumper and hood. I had the whole front end repainted. I was mad, but that was no lambo!!

The car looks amazing.

Thank you both! The paint damage was a combination of the factory and dealer prep.
