Does Car Wax go bad?
I didn't see this section of the page until now. I was wondering if anyone knows if Car wax goes bad? I have some 20/20 or something carwax that cost me around $100 (which was about half off at the time). I might have opened it once but never used it. Is that stuff any good? I believe I got it in 2003.

I don't believe wax is like wine which gets better as it ages.
There probably is a practical shelf life, but I don't know what it is. If it's been kept in a cool dry place and tightly sealed, it will last longer than a hot humid garage. You can test it by applying it to a piece of metal you don't care about. But even if it polishes and shines, I doubt the protection will last due to its age.
My guess: wax in the bottle will last 2 to 5 years.

I have had some go bad on me before. Many years ago, I had some (can't recall if it was Mother's or Meguiar's) carnauba I left in the garage in the old can. Of course, it froze repeatedly over the course of the winter. When I popped it in the spring, it had a rancid/acidic smell to it. Off to the garbage can it went.
Now, I have several waxes and they all come inside for the winter. I have not had an issue since.
