Best wax I can *Big Box Store*!!!

I would like to know what you think...

I will (hopefully) be waxing my RDX (2007-Carbon Gray Pearl) next week...

I don't want to get some expensive wax for it... No more than $10...

Just high quility budget wax...

It's full of scratches, I just want it slick, shinny, and protected...

What wax is best for our delicate Honda paint...

I was thinking Meguires Carnuba for about $8...

I've used it on my Kia, and it always worked well...

So, is there any other good quility wax I can get at a store, like W-Mart...

This may have been discussed before, but I found nothing I recognized, or knew would be affordable, am I on the right track?

Well, I'll see if that will work...

Can I apply it with a microfiber hand waxing pad?

My local CarQuest appears to have recently gone out of business...

If I can't find this, I'll get NXT or Carnuba...

It was just waxed in Febuary, and I want this to be quick, so I'm doing one heavy coat...

NXT is garbage , carnuba is short lived on a dark color. There is no such thing as a " heavy " coat. What you put on thick just takes longer to dry, doesn't allow a sealant to cure properly if your using one and is harder to remove increasing the chance of marring. Look for Meguiars #21 from their professional line.

to understand why one is better than the other, you'll need to know what product is made of.

a carnuba wax is natural from a tree.
a synthetic sealant is man made and has better "protective" properties.

now, if you're washing the car with improper technique, no matter what wax or sealant you put on, you'll induce marring.

watch some youtube videos on how to take care of your car and which products to use

I used to detail a few years ago...

I got the Meguires Gold Carnuba paste...

This is what I used to use about two years ago...

So it's good stuff...

The Synthedic was twice as much...

I'm doing this the easy wax, I know it's not the best, but it will do...

I'll go over and clay/compound it one day... This is just to get it better...

It not in good condition or anything, there's a huge burn (upper passenger quarter panel) from the dealers detail department bore I got it in February...

I'm just doing one coat, maybe two, but that's it...

I won't have a lot of time as I only want to spend an hour to 90 minutes on it...

It's still got wax on it, so this is just a booster "so to speak"!!!

Thanks for the input, I'll look for the two you recommended in the future, but this is all that Walmart and autozone had as the good places like Pepboys and Napa close so early...

On a side note, I did a lot to the RDX this week, it's been very productive...

for me; it would be better to detail the car and get the burn marks out and then seal the car.

it seems like you wanna do extra work! lol

It really hasn't gotten very dirty since we got it ten weeks ago...

I'm not up for a detail, just maintenance, I'll focus on those marks and scuffs next time around when I get some scratch repair paste...

Do you think rubbing compound would help the burn marks? I have some of that...

I'll see if I can find a picture...

I found some, look righ above the tail light on the quarter panel, thankfully, this color hides it well...

What are you referring to as "burn" The only burn I as a detailer am familiar with is burn through of the clear done by a buffer .. are you referring to holograms?

Ok, so is this any better (for restoration sake)?

I can't say for sure they did it, but their detail department isn't that good, i.e. swirls, wax on plastic, not removing scuffs, they just do one coat of cheap wax and put it on the lot....

There's even a yellow mark on the bottom right (passenger) bumper on the very bottom (under foglight) where the previous owner hit a yellow block in a parking lot...

Now I know that will come off because I've repaired that kind of damage many times before...

As for the hologram, it's hard to see unless you look at it from a certain angle, I'm so happy I have the carbon gray, it really hides imperfections...

Just look at pictures in my albums and other threads, you'll start seeing a ton of scratches, scrapes, small dints, and other problems...

I'm not that worried about it if I can't fix it easily, I'd rather worry about other things on the RDX...

The salesman said first thing, $7,795, I won't fix anything, so it's very "as is", I can't prove they did it, but they probably did, and I've had it for over two months now...

In fact, I finally got my plate on so I could get my inspection done, thank god it's just a light bulb and horn wipers test in Louisiana, but Mississippi just got rid of inspection stickers compleatly....

Our vehicles don't get examined like up noth and CA...

Sorry, went off topic...

Update and I Need Help Badly!!!

I waxed it, went well, got WAY overheated though...

I compounded out the hologram, very easy...

See below...

However, I have another problem!!!

I compounded the hood to get the hazyness out, I first sprayed wheel cleaner on the hood to remove dead bugs and gravel from cat paws...

The wheel cleaner dried to a stickiness...

So I sprayed bug remover on it just before going through a wash....

However, I used the wheel cleaner before the bug remover because I got the bug remover when I went into town to get washed...

The wash got everything off but left the hood sticky...

I compounded the hood to remove the stickiness, and it did, only where I could reach it and push with force...

I'm afraid this won't come off with out an orbital and more compound...

Also, all of the compound wouldn't come off when I buffed it... It was pretty hot outside and the hood was extremely hot from the engine, so it dried on fast...

I had to use water to re-constitute the compound to even remove it.... The water did NOT cause the spotting... It was there after the wash and compounding, before the water...

I waxed over it lightly to deepen the paints color to maybe hide it, didn't do much...

So, my question is, should I go to a detail shop, and ask them just to compound and buff only the hood for a fair price, and I'll wax it...

If this doesn't come out, I'm PlastiDip-ing it, and it will just look like carbon fiber until I can figure out something...

This is really freaking bothering me!!!
