This TL so far offers the best combination of driving and comfort without the BMW stigma, and much better reliabilty. Size is good - I found the LS400, 7-series and A8 just too big.
Hmm, I didn't give you that much respect. I had and SCCA club raced a '64 Mini Cooper S in '66 in LA. I don't think that I've had 50 cars, but close.

The rating thing:
fun: 8, less than 330i, more than GS430.
luxury: 9, more than both
Which on I'd choose for any trip other than a canyon run in the 330i, the TL.

45 w/5A non-nav, anthracite/ebony. So many cars so little time: Mustang, GTI, Accord, 300ZX, Maxima, Subaru SVX, Civic, DelSol, Golf (several), Jetta, Windstar, Maxima, Outback Wagon, Durango, Passat GLX 4-Motion Wagon, Outback VDC Sedan, and a few used or demo beasts of burdon to make up for trading cars every two years (or less). Wife drives the MDX and son has said he wants the TL when he starts driving. I'm out of the market till then. Best of the bunch above was probably the 2000 Golf GLX TDI; maybe the SVX. The TL tops them all for bang for the buck.

I'm 39 and I've managed to own seven Acuras in ten years. This car blows them all away, although i do miss the more substantial, spacious feel of my Legends.

I've had a few black cars, silver cars, dark greens and more. The White Diamond Pearl is the best of all worlds for me because it shows off the lines of the car so well, gives the sheet metal a rich and substantial look, and its much easier to maintain a decent appearance with.

I just love Acura. For me nothing else does it as well.

58 and it appears one of the oldest.

Got my 6sp Navi Black/tan about 3 weeks ago and having a blast. Previous cars have been 4 Audis ('71 100LS, '81 5000 diesel, '84 5000 and '87 5000), '92 BMW 325i, '92 Mercedes 400E, '97 Mercedes ML320 and '97 Mercedes S320) among numerous others. Other car now is 2003 Sequoia SR5. I do miss the MB S-class (awesome on the open road an VERY roomy).

This ia my first Acura and I am very impressed. Still getting used to shifting again, mainly from stop in 1st. Embarassing when I stall it, altho not very often.

Anyone older that I am?

well. i am not too surprised by his age though. I grew up with people who were getting BMWs and MBs when they first got their licenses. And recently, i learned that my gf's friend (only 18 y.o.) was forced to get a license by her mom. So she got it and guess what came next? a brand new MB CLK 320.

I'm 31 and will be picking up a 5AT, Non-Navi, Anthracite/Ebony tomorrow. This will be, by far, the nicest car I have every owned.

I agree with those who suggest the newly licensed start out with something not as nice, but if you can afford it, more power to you.

When I got licensed at 16, didn't have my own car - borrowed 'my fathers Oldsmobile'. At 18, got the hand me down '77 Plymouth Volare wagon - green with 'wood' paneling. 'Upgraded' to an overly used and abused 87 Taurus 4cyl and used that for a few years. Then bought my first new car - 97 Outback and will be selling (CarMax) or trading it tomorrow to get the TL. So the TL will be more than just a minor improvement in all aspects

31 ... Picked up my SSM 6 spd. non-navi last week. On a fun scale of 1-10, I'd say an 8. I've driven cars that are more fun to drive ('93 RX-7 TT, '95 Lightweight M3, '02 M3), but only the '02 M3 matched the combination of fun and luxury. Of course, the M3 is $20k more.

Got my wife an 04Tl about 3 weeks ago and she loves it. I told her all the other old women drove Buicks. We'll both be 59 in April. Our 13-year old granddaughter thinks Memaw is really cool driving a car like that.

60 with a 6spd! I had a 5-speed Legend at 50, but I doubt that I'll have a 9-speed in 30 years.

50 here, but only in years!! Had my TL for almost three weeks now and I still smile every time I walk out to climb in! What a sweet ride.....so nice to finally be able to afford something nice on a teacher's salary (even if I have to add my "second job" into the mix!).

The lines of this car are classic and elegant....but there's also a bit of "cockiness" innate in the design....I think that's why the appeal stretches across the generations.

I'm 48 and just took delivery of my TL two weeks ago today.

We owned Acuras back in the early days, an 87 Integra and 88 Legend Coupe, both with MT's. We fell into the domestic car/AT trap for about 10 years but got bored with that.

When the new TL came along and we took a 6MT out for a test drive we were hooked all over again. It's great to be back in a fun car to drive!

You may have spoken too soon. MB and BMW are currently/soon to be offering cars with 7 speed transmissions . . .

If you had a CVT, you would have a lot more (or less, depending on perspective/semantics) than 9 speeds . . .
