Tire Opinion Needed!!!

Ok guys, so I just bought a set of 8.5 Aspecs and they are currently getting the curbage repaired and getting repainted. In the meantime, I'm searching for tires. I have been looking at tires all day long and I think I narrowed it down to 2 brands. I have read reviews on both and both seem good. They are both quite tires and handle good they say. So for those that have these tires, your experience is needed..lol...Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 or Continental Extreme Contact DWS? If you guy have any other recommendations, that would be great. Thank you

We have the Contis on the Accord that my kids use and have been very happy with them year round. They do very well in the white stuff.
Some have complained about soft sidewalls and I have felt this but if you aren't driving for NASCAR, you will be happy with them. One solution offered up is increase the PSI by 2-3 PSI.
In terms of the Michelins, are you sure you picked the right model? Thinking you meant Pilot Sport A/S3?? The PS2 is a Summer only tire and would only be half a step above bologna skins in the white stuff.

Thanks for the response man. Well, my TL doesn't get driving in the winter time, only spring and summer time. Picking a tire can be so hard when you really don't know about tires that well. I'm just looking for a quite tire that can handle pretty good since my TL is lowered on coils and its a 6mt. So I like to push it sometimes on the highway and be able to take turns at a higher speed

I just got a set of Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus on my car yesterday, love them. They're quiet, handle great, and gives my TL a much comfier ride compared to the old worn Dunlops that they were on when I bought the vehicle. It really does feel like a whole new car and I had no idea the cabin could be that quiet. I can't believe how much road noise was coming from the Dunlops, even as worn as they were.

The P7s are rated the best GT tire on TireRack and I couldn't be happier with my choice of tire.

I have dedicated Winter tires (Blizzaks) and run dedicated Summer tires. I have Michelin Pilot Super Sports and can HIGHLY reccommend those for pushing on the highway and aggressive on and off ramp romps. You might want to check those out if your TL is a garage queen in the Winter months.

Bridgestone re970as. All season tires that perform almost like summer tires. I do a TON of research before buying anything and it all led me to these. I've had these for about a year and I've loved every second. They grip amazing in wet and dry, low noise, and are stiff for cornering.

Try the Pirelli Cinturato P7 All season Plus tires.
They are worlds better than the Michelin tires and less costly as well

Thanks for the opinion man. But since the TL doesn't get driven during winter, I decided to go with a summer tire. I actually just purchased the continental extreme contac dw tires. So after I get them mounted and drive around on them, I'll post up a review

Need some feedback. Are the Michelin A/S 3 the best option for my Type S with 17 Waffle Wheels? I see some more expensive Michelin options (Primacy) and want to make sure I get the tire that will give me the best handling.

What are your priorities? Your signature says Gilette Stadium, so these will be used in the snow? Or do you have dedicated snows already??

How 'bout them Pats??

The Patriots rock!

I'm in Mansfield, but not looking for snow tires. Looking for a tire that is somewhat an all season, but also gives me some performance.

Leaning towards Michelin A/S 3.

Where in SE Mass are you? Your TLS with the Aspecs sounds gorgeous. I have a set of Aspec in my basement that I'm looking to get re-finished in a darker color.

Thanks

I have no experience with the A/S 3s but as mentioned above I put the Continental ExtremeContact DWS on the Accord my kids use. I can definitely reccommend the Conti's as an excellent all around tire including the snow. There is an AZ member (sonny@tirerack) who works for tirerack.com and has said the A/S 3's and the Contis' are both good all around tires. He has said the Conti's are better in the snow while the A/S 3's have better dry grip and a slight edge in the wet. I doubt you will go wrong with either. Did you look at reviews on tirerack.com?

I lived in Norton for 15 years, but am in Attleboro now. Likely headed to Wrentham, Plainville, N. Attleboro next.

I got my A-Specs from another AZ member here and really enjoy them especially wrapped in Michelin PSS I use my "waffles" in the winter months with Blizzaks. I didn't originally set out to have two sets of tires and rims but once you start you get hooked. It might be a little more $$ in the long run but you need to remember you aren't buying tires nearly as often an I personally have gotten three sets of snows used off of CL cheap.

Excellent information. I'll check out the tirerack.com reviews today.

Do you have any pictures of your TLS with the A-Specs? If so and you have time would you mind either sending pictures to me via PM or direct to my email (bcppats@gmail.com).

Thanks again for the feedback!

im also shopping for tires.
Getting tired of the flat spotting I encounter with the DWS.
Im narrowing my search down to the following:

Yokohama ADVAN Sport A/S
General G-MAX AS/3

hopefully others here have used those above and can let us know their experience.

Take a look at this thread regarding the A/S 3 and the Conti DWS and a few others. Look at the comments by sonny@tirerack. https://acurazine.com/forums/tires-w.../#post15323240

In terms of pix of my A-Specs on my car, I know I do have taken some but need to dig them out from where ever I have them. That may take a bit to do

The DWS is a nice compromise, but if you get a lot of snow they are only going to be ok at best. They are a very comfortable tire because of the softer sidewall. Push them to the limit and you can feel the side wall flex. Mine didn't last to long maybe 35k. Also once you wear away the S stamped on the tire you won't have any real snow traction. If you can swing it get snow tires, huge huge huge difference. I have DW's for summer and love them, very grippy and stiff side wall not as squishy of a ride as the DWS's but a very nice summer tire. Check DW's regulairly because I had one of my tires start to come apart but Conti replaced it for free because it was a manufacturing defect.

I ended up going with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3. Paid 7 for the set of four including mounting and balancing.

With all the snow we have and are supposed to get, I guess you will havre some opportunities to test the snow capabilities. Best of luck with them!!

I know right.. Thanks! I have a set of A-Spec in the basement (not 8.5 but 8). I'm looking to get them refinished in a color closer to the waffles maybe darker. The plan is to run the waffles in the winter as you do.

Do you know anyone in the SE Mass area that will do this?

I've never had to have any wheel work done so I don't know anyone in the area. You could try posting something in the NE Region thread to see if you get a response from other NE members - New England - AcuraZine Community

I would offer caution on the Contis DWS. Just ran a set, they were awsome for the first year, but completely fell apart at 35k miles. Taking my ASPECS to be refinished tomorrow and will be mounting the Michelins when I get them back.

"completely fell apart"

Is that just an expression or did they actually fail and disintegrate? 35K is only 70% of the tread wear warranty.
