AC Forged Wheels?

Okay...Hello peeps, popping the cherry on my first thread on the 'zine. I've been TROLLIN'/STALKING this forum for months now getting input on 20's...the wife and I REALLY wanted some Works VS-XX, LOVE the way FYAH's looked when he had his and wanted to buy another member's before the thread closed.

AAAAAANYWAY...

has anyone in So. Cal. (or anywhere else) ever heard of AC Forged wheels, they seem to be exclusive to AudioCityUSA.com , we gave ourselves a $3000 limit and they SEEM like an okay company for forged rims (multi-piece rims), they use 6061 aluminum alloy for the forging.

any comments are useful, thanks guys!

-Los

i think the correct word you were looking for is "lurking"

trolling is something completely different. lol

a quick search on google yielded mixed reviews
Mostly expensive Euro cars use AC forged.
Cool little article

Lol...THAAAAAATS the word I was looking for!

Yeah, a google search with that same "mixed" reviews is what caused me to post it up here...we love that "mesh" look & that shop is running a deal on wheel & tire packages on that brand & style, so just wondering if anyone has had ANY experience with that brand/company...good OR bad.

Thanks justnspace for the advice/input.

Never heard of them, I'm generally not a fan of domestic forged wheel companies because the quality is IMO not up to par with JDM wheels which are JWL and VIA certified and tested to meet and exceed quality and saftey standards. I've just read people who had bad experiences with domestic forged wheels. From customer service to quality issues. If you're spending that kind of money on wheels, do it right and get some JDM wheels or forged wheels from reputable companies like Forgestar, Astani or Forgiato.

Good point TeamAcura...we were thinking the same, if it's going to cost $3000+ for "no name" forged rims...we're just going to go with what we wanted in the FIRST place, Work Wheels.

I did, however, see on a bimmer board that Forgiato makes those AC Forged wheels, but why the big price difference? Lacking the quality or just the reputation? Hmmm...

AC Forged is made at the same place as:

iForged
VIP Modular
True Forged
ID wheels

Look at the AC forged split 10 wheel, it's the exact same wheel as the VIP Modular VR 02 for HALF the price.

Trust me....they are all made in Anaheim, CA at the same factory.

So don't think they are less quality than the others just because of a name brand. Buy the AC's and pop on a VIP Mod centercap... it will fit perfectly and save 3,000 bucks.

although they are not POPULAR, they are really good wheels.. rarely do you see a set on a vip'd out car. you see them on mostly high end cars.

Those 313's and 311's look pretty good. If you all need someone to demo those wheels for you..... just saying.

Well...thanks Anthony, AudioCityUsa, for the pics...I really love the look of the flat-face "mesh" design...I think the "raw" look would really go well with the lines of the 09-11 TL's. Just gotta make a decision...we WERE set on getting these ACForged rims until we got some quotes for VS-XX's here in Cali. I just know that when we pop for wheels...we want them "NOW". Thanks again guys!

I would go with AC's. You can get them in ANY custom finish, local, costumer support is RIGHT HERE (where is the Work guy??), and replacement parts on hand.

Yeah, the wife thinks that will be our best option too...the Works are at Evasive Motorsports in Sante Fe Springs (www.evasivemotorsports.com), but the price for the ACForged are on sale for about $3600 for rims & tires (add a couple hundred for custome color - GOLD) and the Works are $3800 for JUST RIMS.

Welp...just left Evasive...Gold 20x9.5's with 245-35-20 Toyo Proxes (that's all they offer), no break in price for package deals, $4950 with a 3 month lead time (all 3pc wheels are built to spec, they don't stock them in-shop).

Sooooo, it's just TOO much $$$$ to throw down on rims ESPECIALLY since we still need to buy the Tein SS' *le sigh*

I guess the next trip is to AudioCity to see what those ACForge look like

I was just messin'. Yeah, I didn't know those where what he had, I thought they were other rims. Well, thanks for the offer, we WERE going to get a set of AC Forged, but we just purchased a set Work VS-XX's from another board member.

I thought he was running another brand to.
Did you get the VS-XX yet?

Why didn't Mike run center caps? The wheels look incomplete w/o them.

Yeah, those are the ones.

We plan on powder coating them in the near future, so if I can't polish them out, then we'll have them repair it when we get them PC'd.

Im sure you got a great deal then.... just too much work for used rims IMO.

I've seen the AC wheels in person. They are the same quality as Jap made wheels plus if I want to cahnge the face, I'm sure they can cut out any design I want since they are all made in house.

Buyer Beware with these guys.

You can get the same wheels from True Forged. Cheaper, quicker turn around, and better customer service.
