Yoooooo (Parts 1 & 2)

I'm gonna order a lip. I have an 04 tl.. I plan on getting the 07 types lip. I would get the 04 lip but it's the same price as the 07 lip and I like the 07 more . so might as well get the one I like more. Anyways. If anyone has ever did this mod on the 04. Can you tell me the measurements and how much or where to cut to adjust for the 07 types lip?....what did you cut the bumper with? Is 04 base bumper adjustable for this mod?

You need to cut just the outside corner the fog light (is supposed to) sit in.

Someone showed a pic on FB group but I doubt I'll be able to find it.

At a high level, this is not an easy mod.

the front bumpers are shaped quite differently, and the folks at HeelToe say "neither 2007-08 lip can go on a 2004-06 bumper very well, if at all." Here's the link to their guide.

Also, this thread has a bunch of additional info on various configurations, but you'll have to read through it.

FWIW, if you do decide to replace your 06 base bumper with an 07/08 base bumper, here is the process to get a Type-S lip on that bumper.

My advice would be, if you really need the 07/08 Type S front lip, get the 07/08 front bumper (which are sold unpainted) and do a full front end conversion. This thread is ancient, but has some info in it.

And that's exactly what I want bro. My 04 is pearl white tho but that's how I want it to look. So you have anymore pics of the cutting involved?

I'm not ordering from heeltoe . and I kinda ignore what they say seeing acurazine has different answers then them.. And they overpriced for me. Shipping is like 200 and something just for the front lip. The lip itself is 300 so total like 500 some change when on endless rpm..com I can get a front lip and side skirt for almost the same price with free shipping lololol.

Interesting. Free shipping is an incredible deal given how large these items are.
Regardless of where you buy from, I wouldn't discount HeelToe's expertise on the subject. It CAN be done, but it'll likely be a painful process. If you have an appetite for that, then I'm interested to see the results when you're finished. Hopefully some of the other linked information was helpful.

And does the lip come with the fogs or do I buy that seperately?

I like the 04-06 lip better plus less work you would have to get the grilles and fogs to make it look like a type s front end

It does fit with cutting. Most would assume it wouldn't because of the size of the bumpers, but the lip itself is the contour.

The type-s does fit on base 07-08, no cuttting and on 04-06 with cutting like OP showed above. The problem comes to how you mount the fogs as the fogs would have originally mounted to the bumper itself. Being a base bumper and cut, you would just have to figure out how to mount the fogs (bracket/zipties(lol hondas love zipties)/jigg/whatever), but all else is good. NO turning back either lol.

Marcus owns heeltoe and hes a good guy, sometimes we have different deals / price points and can't be the lowest, but marcus is very well known in the TSX so an answer that custom for the TL I can see him not knowing the answer. He is very knowledgeable though.

just gain a few pounds or throw a couple bags of cement or dead bodies in the trunk/backseat and it should lower the car a good amount

Honestly Tony lowering is all personal preference and there are tons of information in this subforum that talks about the different suspension setups that previous owners have had and their successes/failures.

Take a gander: Tires, Wheels & Suspension - AcuraZine Community

lips don't lower cars... springs/shocks/coilovers (and obese people) do

I know lips don't lower cars. I don't mean lower it in general. What I should have said is Does a lip decrease height from ground to bumper.

Worst thread title ever. At least make it relatable to what you're asking so if people ever do searches in the future, they're not getting these random "yoooooo" threads.

I'm awaiting the inevitable Yooooo part 3 when OP asks about what gasoline to put in.

OP, do your due diligence and search before posting new threads because chances are your issue isn't new and has been

Also +2 on the thread title. If you need help, you want to make it easier for others to help you. If you just want to say sup, there's a different thread for that

Agree with Taco and Thoi on thread title and searching prior to posting.

Adding a lip to the bumper will lessen the distance from the bottom of the bumper to the ground. Adjusting the suspension, either with lowering springs or full coilovers, will also adjust the distance between the bumpers and the ground, and will lessen the distance from the wheel/tire to the top of the wheel well.

Personally, I would wait until after you've installed the lip to play with the suspension, as it will be easier to fine-tune when you know your clearance and can do it all in one go. My vote for coilovers would be Tein Street Advance. They've served me well thus far.

OP this isn't difficult. Either install the lip kit or wait until you get your coilovers and install all at once.

lmao i died when i saw the title cus i knew it would be you from part 1.

No adding the lip kit doesnt lower your car.

However i did lower my TL on function & form type 1s when i had it.

If you lived close you can have em for pretty cheap, just over 2000km on em (pretty much brand new) before i just took em off cus winter was coming so i put back on the stocks.

Also getting low profile tires will lower your car a bit

No, it won't.

You can't just slap any old tire on. The outer diameter of the tire still has to be as close as possible to the original, otherwise your speedometer and odometer will be way out to lunch.

If you put bigger rims on, all you're doing is putting smaller sidewall tires on to compensate for the difference. That's why you see tires as thin as rubber bands when guys put 20" wheels on their TL.

+1.

Also, I should have said earlier that adding the lip will only lower your bumper clearance by an inch, maximum. The lip fits tightly over the stock bumper, so the 'lowering' is negligible.

Never said anything about bigger wheels.

I meant low pros on the same 17s the TL's come with it. That will lower your car, plus provide performance benefits.

Just an option for OP to consider.
