Wrong way drivers!
Are for some reason a huge problem in the Tampa Bay Area.
This incident involved a 3GTL.
2 people killed in wrong-way crash identified | WFLA.com
I wonder if the outcome would have been different if either driver were wearing their seat belts.

... or drivers in the dark with NO running / headlights on. I see a few nearly every day.
Drivers have so much to do while driving,,,,except operate their vehicle as the priority. Most people have the attention span of a flea.

By the looks of the TL, don't believe that a fastened seat belt would have helped. Many years ago was the first on an accident where a young lady went into the oncoming lane and struck a semi. It was a glancing blow as the truck driver swerved to the right. I stopped, checked on the truck driver and as there was diesel fuel leaking had him shut it down. Walked down the road to the other driver, looked inside and she looked like she was sleeping, no blood, but she was dead from brain injury.
Have relatives in Tarpon and spend a least a month every year in the Sunshine State. One can't believe the number of deaths in Florida attributed to wrong way drivers. Last year I contacted the Florida DOT and sent photos of what I consider incorrect lane markings.
Example, I believe 54 east to north on the Suncoast. When approaching there is a far left lane that begins before the highway and the arrows are pointing left before the highway, and actually toward the exit ramp. Seems as though that's the norm in Florida. NE has the arrow straight until under the highway, then the arrow left. Doesn't seem like much of a difference, but when one is impaired, just follow the arrows and you're going the wrong way.
On 19 in Homosassa Springs, there is a one way sign in the median that is actually pointing in the wrong direction.

What you just described is very much the norm in Florida. FLDOT has avoided building proper cloverleaf interchanges wherever possible. A disoriented or impaired driver could easily jump on the wrong ramp at one of these cross-unders, and now they're trying to shore up the problem with more signage. I don't think anything short of spikes, gates or water curtains will make any difference.

Unfortuantely some crashes so bad that likely even seat belt may not be enough to save you. Especially in a head on crash where so much momentum is being directed/stopped so suddenly...likely TONS of force put into the drivers....so may have too much internal damage as well

My wife and I almost got hit in a neighborhood by a wrong-way driver two nights ago. It's because to get out of our neighborhood, you have two options. Well, one option was shut down for construction about a week ago. People don't like taking the other much longer way to get out. Was returning from a date night with the wife and this asshat in a minivan comes careening down my left hand lane and almost hit me.
Fucking idiots.
Oh, and wear your seat belts.

Yea imo people dont use their horn enough. I always try to use mine to alert other drivers of where I am especially if its a dark alley or one way road, also if they are doing something illegal or stupid. Most people now just ignore the idiots and do nothing, then consequentially I usually see an accident caused later down the road.

^^It's tough choice. Every time I use them either nothing happens or the driver gets even more angry.
Many people who are idiot drivers don't want to improve and I feel many times if you honk people can get enraged even more
