WHOA! Torque steer in my '06 TL 6mt

So I have have been driving my new 06' TL long enough to burn one tank of gas and can I just say I love this car! Seriously feels good to be a part of the TL team. But I definitely have some torque steer going on. Pulling to the left a little when I drop a couple of gears and deploy my right foot.
Anyone else have this? Common?
Car has 80k miles, very very well maintained.

Torque steer is common on FWD. Just the nature of the beast. Normal.

hmmm, thats unfortunate to hear. I'd call insurance ASAP if I were you, your car might be totaled.

Could try getting an alignment, the torque steer is a known issue on the MT, my 05 6mt definitely has it, might just be something to get used to

I actually thought torque steer is pretty minimal on these TL's. One car that comes to mind that caught me way off guard is when I drove my dads 08 GXP Grand Prix. I laid into it and that steering wheel flew in one directional was pretty extreme. 300+HP fwd V8 will do that I suppose.

My Type S 6mt's are pretty easy to manage at full throttle I think.

Yeah not too sure what they were thinking about putting a V8 in a FWD car with a 4 speed automatic. Oh Pontiac.
They got it right with the G8 but then Pontiac was... ended. GT and GXP model came with V8s, 361hp and 415hp (LS3!) respectively.

I was lucky enough to see a G8 GXP in white at a drive through out of the like 10 that made their way in Canada. lol

New motor mounts and front suspension bushings might help tighten things up a bit?

I agree the TL isn't bad at all, at least in a straight line.

My 6MT type-s has it too and I'm still getting used to it. I have summer tires on it and it's been driiven mostly in low 40s temps which makes traction much worse. Can't wait till spring and summer to see if it gets better.

I have an auto but it does torque steer a bit, my wife complains about it when she drives it cause she's not used to driving a FWD car with really any power, her 07 Impala is 211hp, the TL pulls significantly harder than that car with even a weak 258, I don't pay any attention to it since I'm used to correcting it without thinking about it. I've always heard people say over 250HP for a FWD and it's basically just gonna happen, never driven a FWD with more power so I can't comment, I'm used to RWD V8's before this car.

excessive torque steer could be mounts or other suspension related issues. Acura along with most other manufacturers use an unequal length driveshaft system in the front and that is what causes the problem. Some cars like the old dodge intrepid have equal length drive shafts and do not have any torque steer.

Acura does a pretty good job of keeping it under control compared to most others (go drive a newer impala SS)

Shouldn't this be in red? :-/

OP - I think a common cause of excessive torque steer can also be the compliance bushings. They are known to go bad prematurely, though more often in autos than manuals.

My 04 6MT doesn't seem to have much torque steer, and that's even with low offset wheels which can magnify it some. It's definitely more apparent than with the stockers tho. Does your car have aftermarket wheels?

Especially of it's raining or the tires don't grip well you'll notice this. If it happens on the dry to, I'd say look into your tires. What brand and model are they?
