Im In the airforce and they dont pay us Sh*t. All I did was save for about two years and dropped a big down payment. My payments are $150 a month. It just goes to show you that you dont have to make alot to have a TL, you just have to save.

I am Vice President of IT at a large bank in Chicago. I was looking for something that was fun to drive, that my family could fit in occasionally. and was respectible in the executive parking garage. I wasn't thrilled with the land-yaht Lexus and Benz's. I am more of a sporty guy. I looked at a ton of "not-so-big" sporty sedans, including BMW 5's; MB E class etc. Would have loved a 4-door M3, but they don't make those anymore (didn't they a while ago?). Now I'm not saying my TL is in the same class... I just enjoyed it more, and felt like I got a deal.. Why pay 10-20k more just for name...?

Not to bag on you, but investing would be: stocks, bonds or realestate. A car is an expense.. one you will NEVER recoup. Unless you buy a Bugati or something..

I am 31 y/o and work for a transportation company as a district finance manager. Luckily and unluckily I live in the midwest where the cost of living is substantially cheaper than the east or west coast. Mortgage of $900 / single / maxed 401K / no CCRD debit / saved money monthly. Purchased the car new for $34,000 and traded an '01 Accord EX-V6 2DR that I owed very little. Payments of $379....I smile everytime I drive this car!!!! Would rather not disclose income. Enough to purchase, but feel fortunate to be able to own such a beauty.

Anything on the V710 software upgrade???

I'm 37 and a Web Applications Developer for a healthcare company. I put down $8k on my '04 TL and my payment is $523 a month (for 60 months @ 3.9%). I'm single, own a house and debt free. I make pretty good money for the job I do, but that's all relative. At my salary, I'm probably considered to be upper middle class in this area, but I would be probably be hurting if I lived in California or New York.

Just remember, when it comes to how much money a person makes, it all depends on where they live (and if they're married, have kids, etc.) as to how much disposable income they have. Don't let the numbers fool you!

Exactly! When I was in the AF a lot of my buddies drank their paychecks. I saved and always had nice things...and still partied too!

You should always do the best you can to live within your means. Although, most of the people I know seem to have a very difficult time doing that. Around Dallas, it's all about keeping up with the Joneses...whether you can truly afford to or not.

Good for you, Ryan. I learned my financial skills in the Air Force also. I'm a firm believer that its not what you make but what you keep. I paid cash for my TL.

I live in Nashville. My 2500 sf house is half the price of one in many cities of like size. If you make 100k/yr. in Tennessee, it is the equivelent of making 250k in other metropolitan areas.

imo, it's interesting to know more about other TL owners... we already have at least two things in common: we own a TL (some of us, two), and are addicted to AZ.

don't you ask what one does for a living when you meet him/her?

and, if you feel the urge to brag, go nuts.

anyway, i'm in the jewelry business... "bling*bling bidness" haha. oh, and a student.

I almost had enough to pay cash...but I would rather hold onto my money longer and only put down 8g.

I rob banks and find no problem affording the TL. It makes a very good get-away car from the scene of many stick ups I pull occasionally. My only complaint is the the TL trunk won't hold more that 2 bags of loot from the Fe deral Reserve heists I'm forced to pull so I can afford to put some gas in my 05 DGP/Camel baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!

19yrs old, 42k/yr, high school diploma, lucky fucking bastard. I saved, and paid half in cash. Loaned the rest for a 4-year loan, but i get to pay payments early and am hoping to get it paid off before the end of the year. I'll be moving to a higher paying IT job (tech support/software engineering/sales) in less than a year, which combined with being on comission will be what pays of the TL and gets me saving for a house/condo.
