What type of oil does the dealer use?

The dealer will use bulk oil that the can buy cheap for like 2-3 dollars a quart. They can also use synthetic if you pay extra for it. The best oil to use would be a quality synthetic oil.

ask your dealer - most seem to have a contract for mobil regular and you can upgrade for too much money to mobil 1 synthetic,
buts its probably the new formula, not the old good formula with better grade base oil- now called high mileage iirc
there are many threads on oil choices- any brand name 5w20 or 5w30 is fine

Wow, another oil thread with some misguided information.
My dealer uses Mobil dino 10w-30 for everything that goes through there. They will use Mobil One upon request. From what I can find, many dealers use Mobil regular oil. It seems like a split between the 5w-20 and 5w-30. I would guess because 5w-30 is normally cheaper in bulk. But in the end it's up to the dealer. Acura does not specify what they can and can't run.
You can go back and forth or even mix dino and synthetic together. Doesn't hurt a thing. The whole mixing and switching being bad dates back to the early '70s which was the last time that was actually true. The only synthetic they had did not react well with dino.
Of course, many "fully synthetic" labeled oils such as many of the Mobil One products are not a true synthetic but are still a good oil.
In my climate, the dealer using 10w-30 makes perfect sense. It rarely gets down to freezing in the winter and summers are 105+.
I run Redline 5w-30 and a RP filer. Many good reasons to do this, no reason not to other than price, but that's for another thread.

Depends on the manufacturer I guess. We use synthetic blend at our shop other than the 0w20 which is a full synthetic. But I use M1 for my car if I cannot get Amsoil in time.
