Well mine are done and its an easy DIY. You lose very little fluid at all changin them out. I havent drove far but enuff to tell it helped sum. Real test in the mornin...seems to be the time i feel shudder most. If i could use a word if it makes sense to ya. The transmission shift seems more attentive. Really only thing i can say. Easy 77.00 dollars to put in.....get at it boys and girls!

Can't wait to see how it turns out in the morning, especially since you've already experienced the shudder. I'll be checking back here every 5 minutes until I see a reply lol.

Remember, these are the pressure sensors, not switches.
So do you have a pic or something so we know what we are looking for.

Well no shudder this mornin after switch change. So far so good. It should be mentioned i had a tranny flush done bout 5 months ago too, so im sure that has helped . Tranny seems alot more responsive after switch change so it definately doesnt hurt to do this if you have higher mileage.

That's awesome! Did it shudder every morning or was it erratic? If it still isn't shuddering after a week is it safe to assume it was a success?

Maybe 3 weeks to late?

It's crazy that I found this thread!

I'm currently having the same issue. From what I read here, I feel like this may have been the issue that caused my tranny to start acting up. Its been slipping for 3 weeks now. Problem is, I was so convinced that the whole tranny was gone, that I continued driving.

If I drain some fluid, will I be able to tell if there is a lot of damage done? Maybe on the plug, since it's magnetic?

I'm supposed to be assisting with rebuilding the tranny this weekend. I know we're getting a master kit, but are those sensors usualy part of the rebuild? If not, they will be this time.

Too bad.. I'd try the switches or new solenoids before doing a rebuild but if you decide to rebuild I hope it goes well.. Take a lot of pics to document your steps from drop to install.. That would be very interesting.

I would absolutely definitely have the ATF analyzed.. get a kit from Blackstone Labs and send it in.. it doesn't cost too much.. just let it drain and then grab some after a quart or so..

I'll try some of this. Worse case, I end up paying an estimated 700.00 for a rebuilt tranny including a rebuilt torque converter. Still not bad for an Acura tranny.

You're going to need to replace the sensors on the rebuild anyway. You may get lucky and there may not be too much damage on the original. $100 is better than $700 even though that's a great deal.

I was quoted 1300 including R&R which I thought was a good price. 700 is a steal! Luckily it turned out the problem was the TPS

Good thread. Sounds like a good Preventive Maint item.

Somebody remind me to change mine at 50k (should be about 18 months from now).

I'm on day two and no shudder still as of yet. Shift points all feel pretty good. I drive around 100 miles round trip a day to work and back. So far all is still good.

Sooo I didn't read through this entire thread post by post; but I thought what plagued the 5AT was that the gear [2nd or 3rd?] did not get adequate cooling and would eventually die? The fix was to inspect, if failure was imminent replace, if it was not damaged, they drilled holes in the gear to improve fluid flow?

Is this a different issue? Am I totally smoking crack?

Edit: Not drill holes; I did some more digging and the fix is to install the oil jet kit so 2nd gear gets proper cooling.

How would changing the sensors resolve a fluid flow/cooling issue?

28610-RAY-003 SWITCH ASSY., AT OIL PRESSURE (TEXAS INSTRUMENTS) 1 $32.21 $32.21

Another thing that can be done to help out is change out your Tranny ATF Filter every 15k to 20k. I went to buy a Filter at my local dealer and can you belive they said they have never sold one.

HAHAHA, are you serious? You do know this requires removal and disassembly of the transmission right? hahah, do that every20k miles -- if you only drive 2k miles a year lol .

It's just like an Oil filter for the car only thing is it's in the tranny so it an open element filter.

Question: If the pressure switch was bad, wouldn't it pull up codes on the scanner? I ran a scanner and pulled up no codes.

OHh, are u kidding me the filter is in the dam tranny. In my old mechanic shop, about all the cars we had in for tranny filter changes, and refilling the tranny fuild, was right under the tranny, almost by the front of the car under the engine. The design though is kinda retarted?

Well in the TL Tranny it's under the Air Box and on Top of the Tranny very simple to change out not hard at all. I have done mine two times since I bought the car with 41K on it I'm at 75K.

number 7 is the filter...my tranny fluid has always been changed at the dealer and on the invoice it never says anything about replacing a filter...shouldn't the filter be changed when they drain and refill the tranny???

if i wanted to change the filter is there a lot of fluid loss when changing the filter??

Na not to much at all and yes if you have had your Tranny ATF changed they should change that also it's like doing an Oil change and not changing the Filter. And they are about $9.00
