Type S A-Spec lip kit... my thoughts
So ever since I decided to buy a 3G TL a few years ago, and since I purchased my TL-S in February, I have been debating whether or not I LOVE the A-spec lip kit (enough to buy) for the TL-S.
Finally, I decided yes, I do love the lip kit (regardless of that buggy nose)!!!
Why?
My previous car, an unbelievably loyal 1996 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP, received a white base with House of Kolor Lazuli Blue Pearl over top. Each time the light hit the car at the right angle, the painter would say.. "Look at that paint POP!" Which it would, it 'popped' the blue pearl at right angle and it looked absolutely amazing! Back to the lip kit..
After countless deliberation my conclusion stems from the "POP!" Take a regular TL and naturally it looks good, but what does the A-spec kit do aside from making the car look sporty? It makes the paint POP! The aggressive styling cues on the lip package introduce several accentuated flares that add areas for light to POP and enhance the pearlish/metallic nature of the factory paint.
Yup, this post has been on my mind and I haphazardly typed my thought! Commentaries?

Get the kit.
A lot of people on Acurazine don't like it because so many members have it. BUT if you look at how many TLs local to you have the kit, you'll stand out.

The only local TLs I see with A-spec lip kits (very few and far between) are '04-06 TLs. TL Type S? I've seen maybe 6 in passed few years

A-Spec kit for the TLS never did anything for me, so I don't have it.

Yup the TL-S kit is a "love it or hate it" feeling....
the sides and the rear are SPOT on....but as usual Acura decides to fuck with people with a TL-S LOL....
the front looks aggressive but like a a damn frog....i never liked the TL-S front BUT,
lately I have been falling for the kit....I think the front is growing on me....if you have a TL-S, I would recommend you to get the lip kit....

I didnt think I would like it as well, after looking at many members who had the kit I realized I wanted to make my TL look different than the others on the road. I am glad that I pulled the trigger on it over the summer.

I love the sides and rear, but the front is a little too bulky. Try getting the base 07-08 front lip installed..
All that has to be done is trimming of the fog area.
Being that you have TYPE-S and no choice its either get the lip kit, or not. I personally would never spend $800 to upgrade front bumper to get the look on a base, but any kit does give the TL a more aggressive look. Maybe try the RonJon front bumper?
I wish they had more options for us TL owners..
If you have anymore questions feel free to PM me. I also do custom headlights and tail lights if you are interested.

I originally wanted to fit a base aspec to my Type-S...in fact I ordered the base, and was kinda pissed when I opened the box and discovered I got the Type-S one instead. That's when I loosely test fit it just to see how it looked, and I was sold. I've had it almost a year, and in that time I have only ever seen one other black Type-S with the aspec kit in my area - including the local AZine meets I've attended.
I think it looks great!

I had the 04 lip kit on my 04 DGP and got in an accident
I jumped at the opportunity to upgrade to the type s kit and bumper. And i ha to paint it DGP so it cost me a lot more
I love the type s kit so much more... Makes the car look wide and less like it has a skirt hanging off the front :X

Ack, if you can get it to fit, make me one-that's exactly what I want (a la jptl04).
Love the RonJon nose....

I actually like the front because that's the only piece that stands out. I'm completely lost with the sides. Don't they look like 99% stock? I'm not sure how the rears compare either. Maybe it's the color. I'm on NBP and I know I want the front but not sure about the rest.

I say GET IT !!!
I had an 07 ASM TL Type-S with the A-Spec kit and loved the kit EXCEPT for the BULGING front lip
My next TL will be an 07-08 WDP Type-S and I will install the A-Spec kit, BUT I am buying the 07-08 Base TL front lip and making it fit my 07-08 TL Type-S. A few have done that on this website and they look AWESOME !!!!!!

Hi,I am a noob and just bought a 08 TL Type S and I have been looking at pictures of the A-spec kit and noticed 2 different front lips. Are you guys saying the more subtle one that just wraps around the lower part of the bumper are for base model TLs and the more aggressive looking lip is made for the Type S? I just want a clarification because I am interested in buying the lip kit and not too sure which one I would get..ThanksKevin

More than likely the path that I end up taking! The Type-S front is yay/nay depending on my mood. I like it, then hate it. The base front lip is much more in accordance with my age... AAAHH! Oh well, I need to get my front bumper repainted first anyway since someone decided to rub up on my car in the parking lot ().

After being a skeptic for quite some time, before you make a judgement make sure you see the kit in person. Pictures make the kit seem more beefy than it really is. I don't why that is but after seeing this kit in person I now have the kit stored in the garage waiting for install.

I started with the front. And that's kept me happy. I wouldn't get the sides - can hardly tell. The rear, maybe once I switch to quad tips. I think the stock tips get lost in the cutouts of the rear ASPEC - doesn't look good to me.

That's why I changed my rear base kit to Type-S with quads. The rear base concealed the base tips too much for my liking.

I have owned 3-TL's. A WDP TL 6-speed manual and I LOVED the 06 A-Spec kit. I had an 06 ASM TL and didnt have it long enough to put one on (bought new, tradded 4 months later on another ASM 07 Type-S. I installed the A-Spec lip kit and never really liked the front lip. It grew on me alittle bit, but when I went to an AZ meet in Chicago summer of 07, when it was parked next to 04-06 TL's with the A-Spec kit then I really didn't like my 07 Type-S front lip YUK
