Sold my ISF, in the market for a TL-S
The new owner took delivery of my 2009 ISF today. Now I am in the market for a TL Type S. While i enjoyed the ISF, i never fell in love with it as I had with my other cars. Also me and my wife wanted to be completely without car payments, so the TL-S falls within budget. I have a friend who is selling his and hoping to check it out on Friday. Its a 2007 KBP TL-S w/ 68k miles on it. Till then i plan to learn to research this forum and gain as much knowledge as possible before looking at the car on friday.
Heres a few photos of previous cars before I get my TL-S. Still have the 4Runner (wifes ride right now).

KBP tl-s is hard to find I think. So finding one with such low mileage seems like a unicorn to me. I completely approve of all your previous rides, I especially love me a G8 with the 6.2 V8.

Seller is Grand Pricks.
I think it's interesting, as a KBP type s Manuel owner...that I see your pics of previous cars and lust after them. But after all of those, and a car with much more power you're selling now, you'll be happy with what I currently have. Maybe that's a sign to just be happy with what I currently have. You never know how much you love them until they're gone, huh?

It was a bit sad when I took her on the final drive. I think since this just happened last night, it hasn't hit me yet. Plus i been having fun in the V8 4Runner, so that eases the pain. lol

It isn't about power only. You have to love that car. The ISF was the only car that I would never turn around and stare at. Dont get me wrong its a monster of a car, but I think i just missed my White G8 because to me it was a better looking car. It had its flaws, but that was ok. lol My wife laughs when i talk about cars like this, but if yours happy with your car and you enjoy it and its almost paid for, KEEP IT. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. hahaha

I am actually pretty stoked for a TL-S. I've always loved the way it looks and to me its the only one i can think of that gives you the sexy look, with power and solid honda reliability without me having to sell a kidney to buy one. lol Plus it has loads of features and interior is phenomenal.

I will tell you the TLS will not drive like your other cars, it is a FWD vehicle. However every time I park, I ALWAYS turn around and look at her. People still compliment on how good she looks (mines stock with tints and yellowed fogs). With some mods it can sound close to your 350z did (not exact). I love my TLS, I am looking at other vehicles right now but cannot find something I like.
The only vehicle that comes close is the Audi S4 (mainly because of the manual gearbox) but damn everyone owns one of these here so there is no rarity.

I think after my BMW experience, i pretty much decided to stay away from German cars. Dont like the maintenance costs. I think your TL-S is more rare and looks much better than a S4 (probably more reliable too)
I dont have any immediate plans yet for mods, but as you can tell from my previous cars, I don't think that would last. My wife knows that my birthday, Christmas, and anniversary presents are usually CAR MODS

Sorry I didnt answer all your questions in the previous post. The ISF was a monster of a car. Super quick and a great daily driver. It had similar power to the my G8s that i owned, but the delivery of that power was insane. It was super quick right of the link and the gear shifts were crisp (especially in Race mode). I bought it because i wanted a sports car that I can daily with solid Toyota reliability. No fancy turbos or superchargers, just a naturally aspirated 5.0 V8. Some things to consider are that the rear passengers dont have much room back there and the rear has two bucket seats, so cant fit three back there as you normally would. Mileage was great (cruising on the highway at 70-75, got about 25-26 mpg thanks to the 8 speed transmission). I would recommend it to anyone that wants a daily driver m3 competitor. I chose it instead of the m3 and cts-v because the isf is just a solid reliable car. My ONLY reason for selling it was financial. My wife and I listed to Dave Ramsey (financial advisor) and have decided to just eliminate all debt. So all credit cards were done and only thing besides a small amount on her 4Runner was my ISF. So we decided to sell it and use the equity to buy me a TL-S and live pretty much debt free instead (would only have the house left with 10 years left on it). Hope that answers any questions. If you have any other questions about it, feel free to hit me up

going from a ISF to TL-S you will loose the power and handling characteristic however you will gain on a roomy interior and better material. I like the 09 ISF since they update the navi system.

Good points about loving to drive your car vs specs on paper. And we each have different likes. I love to drive this car due to the engine and transmission. It's just fun as hell. Fair warning though it wasn't as fun in stock form, as it leans more towards the lux side vs sport. But it has been the best overall in terms of reliability, matched only by my old 350Z. I strongly recommend a manual transmission for you.

i had a 350z years ago before the 370z came out, and i definitely miss that car. super fun. it basically felt like a more adult and torquey version of my s2000. i always liked the idea of having an ISF, but always get bored of automatics.
i sold my type s (i've went through at least 4 of them - wdp, nbp, kbp, the silver one lol), and now own a base TL 6 speed manual because it just seems more comfortable to drive and has better mpg (and less 3rd gear problems). the type s seems to have a bit too much power for FWD, which made it annoying for me to drive. soooo much torque steer. i've went through dozens of cars, and always come back to the 3G TL, it's super reliable, easy to maintain, comfortable with just the right amount of features, and has a timeless sexy look!

wtf? Too much power for FWD? Are you an old Saab engineer? Lol I hardly have torque steer and I've added a bit of power over stock. If you're having excessive torque steer check suspension/bushings/steering components for wear n tear.

Mine pulls a little in 1st gear and does a little side to side action in 2nd gear sure, nothing after that. I don't describe that as excessive, it doesn't yank the steering wheel off my hands. Torque steer will increase as suspension bushings etc wear down. Maybe I don't have much since all suspension and bushings are new
I wonder how Andy's type s feels with 600hp ?

It's been almost 6 months since I got rid of my 3G and I still miss it like crazy. It's such a good car both inside and out. Good luck with the car search!

Though the car drove good, the interior leather was pretty banged up for a car with only 68k miles on it. Plus it wasn't super cleaning to my liking. Engine bay seemed like it was never given any attention. IDK I am always anal about car maintenance, so it just didn't sit right with me that someone wouldn't give it the love it deserves (plus it had other minor issues that the owner had neglected. My gut said to pass on it, so i did).

I've been WOT every 5 mins everyday i drive. I still don't get bad torque steer but maybe that 06 torque management is actually doing its job. Plus the LSD is not going to let the wheels slip on either side. Going to take off VSA and play around. The RSX, now that thing has crazy torque steer, especially manual.

yes, I do think it's overpowered for FWD... I think there's a right mix of power and weight for FWD, so that's probably why the k24 motor is stupid popular in the civics and other honda products.
i love the classy look and space of the TL, don't get me wrong. the performance aspect I'm a bit underwhelmed, and this is because I've driven more performance oriented RWD and AWD cars. seriously, jump into an is350 and do some accelerating with it, take some medium tight turns under acceleration, and you'll feel the car push you into the pavement and turn. the TL on the other hand, you have to concentrate on keeping the wheel stable under tight turns and acceleration.
The TLX AWD would be perfect if it made a 6 speed manual version... just my 2 cents

Too bad the TLX awd is not 6sp Acura like others are following the kill the Manual trend. At the end in the future I think only BMW will keep the 6pd alive.

if you think TL-S have torque steer may be you should try to launch a Pontiac V8 FWD then.....

I agreed under tight turns and acceleration this car struggles and not really fun as other cars I driven, but The looks and reliability of this car makes up for some shortcomings.

Funny seeing a post like this. I've thought about picking up another 6MT TL. Got rid of mine for a Tacoma and now have a C63 AMG for the summer time toy. I'm not sure I could give up the mountain of torque, but every time I see a 3G I say to myself "That's a nice looking car".
