I think I've inadvertently reset mine over time...and boy did I regret it...I felt like my MPG suffered quite a bit. Normally...I like to save money on mpg and when I push it on the highway...the fun is still there. Now I read that this doesn't make a difference on a 6mt...maybe it's in my head...but there's still a/f being figured out that is learned from your driving style no matter what tranny you have...I think.

Either way...I'm trying to increase mpg right now so we'll see. I like that this car can be a pretty conservative gas user...or a beast. depending on how you drive her.

I re-set my ECU earlier this evening. There is a definite change in acceleration characteristic. The engine is willing to pull earlier and harder without requiring the throttle application necessary pre-ECU re-set.

Good tip!

I've noticed that when you step on it, the RPMs go up more steadily. Rather than stepping on the gas - delay - then a mini RPM bomb under the hood.

When I got my TL the dealer d/c'ed the battery to try to remedy a jamming CD player (which didn't work so it got rr'd) and I drove the car after and I loved the throttle response. Now after a few weeks of owning the car, I feel that the response has gotten sluggish.. going to try this later today b4 I leave to work.

What a great site everytime I read it I find something new about the car. I just bought mine a few weeks ago and its former owner was a woman. Needless to say the first few weeks I thought I had made a mistake buying this car (Rattles,Power steering whine and lack of throttle response)Needless to say using this reset method really has livened the car up considerably. Now as others have mentioned how much change will be determined by how you have driven the car. For mine the differnce was without a doubt noticeable Try it what do you have to lose

That sucks that you guys gotta reset the ECU just to make the car feel sort of peppy again :-)

This may have similar effects as a Sprint Booster which helps with non100% throttle response, so no gain in HP. However, sometimes the ECU will not let you get 100% throttle which this may help with which would regain lost hp.

do i have a freak of nature or something? cause I couldn't picture my car having better throttle response. The pedal is SO sensitive if you move it a HAIR width the car moves. It was annoying when I first got it but now it's normal.

Anyhoo, just wondering why when i went to reset the ecu it did nothing. (and I timed it too)

LOL kinda glad it did nothing actually, that way I know I'm not missing out on HP.

DID anyone ever think THIS may have something to do with people posting such different dyno numbers with virtually the same car?

Cause you guys say you can FEEL the difference so you're definitely unleashing 10-20hp. That of which many won't see when they dyno their car cause they didn't know about this? correct?

So... do both methods of resetting the ECU work? Or just the one from the original poster?

Hi,

I got this from another forum and it works for a lot of people including me.

The Throttle is "Drive By Wire" and adapts to your particular driving
style. Do a TBA Throttle body adaptation.

1. Get in your car, it doesn't matter if you close the door or not.

2. Turn the key to the on (not start) position, the position just before the starter
turns over.

3. Press the gas pedal to the floor with the key in the "on" position.

4. Hold the pedal to the floor for five seconds, then turn the key back
to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas
pedal.

5. Wait 2 mins. for a full alignment.

6. Drive the car as you always do.

Depending on your driving style, this may or may not be a big factor. I do a lot of city driving so
I noticed a big change after erasing my history. It is not hard to do this, just follow the instructions -

Key on, pedal down, 5 sec, key off pedal up, wait 2
minutes.

Keep the key in for the entire thing.

Seems to work on mine.

I reset mine as well. What an improvement! I have an 08 Type S with 18k. The past few months I thought something was wrong with my motor, but this took care of it. Great tip!

Thanks guys

I am amazed, but this worked on my 5AT. Much smoother transition between gears. Much more acceleration when needed, especially on the HWY.

I did this on my mower and it feels like a 25hp briggs instead of the 18.5 it is. Clippings look alot nicer too.

I didn't get my TL yet (in a couple days), but I had an 02 Maxima which allowed me to reset the ECU with a timed sequence of key turns and pedal pushes. It definitely gave better throttle response. I'm glad to hear it also works on the TL!

i'm not trying to kill this thread or take ANYTHING away from you guyz who've had success with this reset business. It just has no effect on mine. with power or shifting.

I'd post up my video but I dunno HOW TO DO THAT... u'd think i would have read enough to know that crap but I'm lazy when it comes to things like that.

But I'd like to see what you all think about how she PULLS. cause I know it aint a slow CL :-)

This worked for me as well, acceleration is much quicker now and pedal is more sensitive... My girl drives my car alot so maybe that's why it was the acceleration wasn't as quick for me.

I only noticed a minimal improvement of throttle response...but that could be cuz i drive like a granny. I did notice a definite decrease in mileage tho...23.5 to 20.5. Hopefully it gets better.
