Question about magnetic drain plug

Change your transmission fluid... you might be surprised to notice the drain plug is already magnetic.
Regarding motor oil, I usually find magnetic plugs to be very weak. By the time you're supposed to do motor oil changes, I'd be scared if my oil couldn't hold whichever minuscule metal shavings to the point it became a problem...anyway

I have a couple of magnets that I stick to my oil filter instead. A number of years ago, I cut up a filter to see if these magnets made any difference. The difference was minor compared to what you would see on the ATF plug but was still noticeable.
There's a fine metallic slime that accumulates near the magnet- not a lot of metal and very/very fine. I still use the magnets, but would never pay extra for one of those filter magnetic sleeves based on what I saw. I would say the filter itself traps the larger magnetic chunks and makes a bigger difference.
