Purchasing TL-S - price question, etc.

Hey everyone!
I'm very interested in purchasing a TL-S for my DD (to offset mileage from my current DD, an '06 C6Z06).

I'm going to check one out tomorrow. 2007 CBM with 120k for $12.75. It's currently listed on this board and I've had great communication from the seller.

My question is this - is it common for these cars to sell for over KBB value? It sure seems to be the case based on what I've seen in the open market; i.e. the KBb on this car is $11.4k.

There's another '07 listed locally in ASM w/ 83k for $16k whereas KBB is $14k in very good condition.

All things being equal, better to take the higher mileage car or a lower mile example for $3k more?

Is it common for a well maintained TL-S to reach 200k without significant issues? Goal would be to drive this daily @ 20k/yr for the next 4 years or so.

I plan on having a pre purchase inspection done - anything special I should request?

Thanks for the help!

I would pass. Too much miles and asking price is way too high. I'd consider it at $9,000-$10,000

Just as a comparison, I bought my '07 Type-S ASM w/76k last October for $14,000 even from a private party on Craigslist. It only needed new brake pads all around, otherwise was in very good condition.

With just routine maintenance you can easily get 200k out of these cars no sweat.

TL-S is a solid car however like most car now these day there is things here and there need attention one famous for is the HFL (blue tooth) love to going out and drain your battery, I am awaiting for my replacement unit in the mail as we speak. Other than that its more maint/ preventive things. Yes its common for these car goes above the KBB, the only thing you need to looks for is the 105k miles service which involved suppose to be.

1. Timming belt and water pump replacement, along with all the other belt/ tensioner.
2. Spark plug replaced.
3. Valve adjustment (this can be skipped as no impact on engine performance)
4. Coolant flush through the whole system.
5. Replace all the seal while you had the TB/WP out.

Dealer price varies between $1100 to $2000 depend on location.

Thanks. One good thing about the higher mileage car is that this service has been performed.

WHAT? If you can find a type S WITH 120K ON IT FOR 9-10K RUN LIKE HELL TO BUY IT! 120K on these vehicles is NOTHING as long as properly maintained.

Preventative Maintenance is one thing and I'm sure some cars with high mileage ride well. However, a lot of random work may be needed for it to ride really well that I think that's not realized when you go get an inspection at the dealer or the mechanic or even when you test drive.
