Production numbers: how many manuals?

Is there a breakdown of 3rd gen production numbers somewhere? Most importantly, how many manuals did Acura make each year? Is there at least a breakdown of colors produced each year? My Google-fu is failing me so far.

No. Honda won't release those exact numbers either. All you can find out is how many TL's were sold in a given year and take 10-15% of that number. That can give you an estimate of how many manual UA6 and UA7's there are on the road. But then again there's a margin of error.

IIRC there is a thread where members tried to get a rough estimate on it. Going to have to dig for it OP.

the simple answer is: not enough. not enough manuals were produced.

My understanding is that 10% of TL's were made in manual from 04-06, once Acura released the Type-s that 10% was maintained but, equaled fewer cars due to less Type-s cars sold. Acura killed the base manual option when the type-s came out and that cut down on manual cars.

I always thought '04-06 manuals accounted for around 5% of total production but Wiki says 2.5%, We'll never really know for sure. There seems to be a relatively high percentage of manual owners on here, but that's not a valid indicator since manuals tend to attract enthusiasts and enthusiasts tend to be attracted to car forums, more so than say, soccer moms tend to be attracted to car forums.

I'm in agreement on this one. I remember reading in my previous research that it was 5% that were manuals 04-06. Based on the fact I've probably seen & checked close to 50 TL's 04-06, and mine is still the only manual I've ever seen, with the exception of the one I drove 3 states away to hunt down for a friend, and a buddy I met at a car meet, I'd say 5% is accurate, or perhaps on the generous side. Sadly.

lol all my friends here in houston have 6 speed TL's. did we scoop the 5%?
of course as time goes on, they either wreck or sell their TL's.

in the Houston crew there's at least 3 of us, if not more with six speeds

5%, 10%... where do these numbers come from?

Using 5% leads to around 3,500 manuals each year. Interesting...

The 06 MT TL I bought about 2 years ago came out of Houston. It was very well taken care of!

There appear to be a good number here in Northern Cali, but there are lots of TLs. Craigslist will show 4-5 at any given time. The TL-S manual is the hardest thing to find. Still sick that some lucky guy got a 2008 for $10K before I could snatch it. May 10% of 2004-06 out here.

It's my understanding that about 1 in 40 are manuals. That puts it at around 2½ %. Maybe that's why I frequently offers to sell it. The typical reaction is "Ow wow, you got a stick?!?" And I just snicker at 'em a resounding 'Yeah..." What's more is the extreme rarity of my exact combination of colors with Nav and an M/T which I understand there was only around a few hundred made between '04 and '05

When I went to an Acurazine meet in KC, I recall only 2 out of 60 or so Acuras were manual. This probably doesn't help you.

To quote Wiki: "Roughly 1 out of 40 TLs sold across America were equipped with a manual gearbox"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acura_TL

Not that Wiki's the end all, be all source of gospel, but they're usually pretty accurate. I also recall some Acura literature (that I think was posted on here, years ago) stating similar numbers. Don't really care enough to search right now.
