Possible new '07 TL Type S Owner, couple questions
Going to look at a very well maintained (1 Owner Carfax dealer service record verified) 07 TLs (120k, AT) on Wednesday and have spent a few hours going over some issues on this site.
Obviously I am going to check it over to death and drive it before making a final offer, was hoping for some additional info from those that have been around the block with these.
More than a few postings complained about their transmissions shifting oddly on occasion, is there anything I should be aware of? Signs the pressure switches need replacing? Obviously the fluid color would be a good indicator if it has had regular drain/fill I would think. The 3x3 method seems to be what everyone on here recommends and I have heard this with other Honda's in the past.
Timing belt/ water pump assembly. Owner was very upfront that the service has not been done yet. Seeing how it is over the 105k mark, I will definitely be looking into doing that right away. Looks like the Honda parts kit is around $325 shipped with everything you would need. How prone are these belts to dry rot and breaking? Interference motor I take it?
While not a major issue, should I be concerned with the Bluetooth if it is not working properly? I read it is about a $200 part. Is the only way to test it using the owners phone to make a call?
Are there any other things I should check for that are specific to this model? I read a few complaints about having to replace axles prematurely as well.
Thanks in advance

The car is pretty solid. Pressure switches on autos, motor mounts, compliance bushings, voice module and cracked dashboards are the most common things IIRC.
Just make sure no prior accidents.

Thanks for the reply.
This particular one has been in one minor rear collision where the back bumper needed to be replaced. Owner has the receipt, it was only around 2 grand worth of damage so I'm not overly concerned. (Obviously the Carfax checks out and backs this up)

I just bought a TL this past weekend and your list is pretty good. Make sure the suspension/steering aren't too lose. At 120k I'd imagine there's some worn bushings, etc. but the steering shouldn't be overly sloppy.
Make sure there's no damaging rust on the rear wheel wells. Some won't be a problem if you're willing to fix it. This is a common Honda trait and it seems some TLs also suffer from this.

you can simply test the bluetooth by pressing the handfree button on the steering wheel. if it's not responding that means it's dead.
another thing you want to check is the ac/heat. Makes sure both the driver and passenger side work properly because the venting motor tends to go bad on the TLs.

check the HFL by pressing "MAP" "SETTING" and "CANCEL" at the same time and hold until the diagnostic screen coming up press the upper left one and it will run a system check for you the if the HFL is good it will be green if its bad then it will turn out red.

I barely used home link anyway, blue tooth (HFL) cost $247 for part and 10 mins of my time. I just replace my HFL couple days back.
