This past week.
This past week.
Monday:
Bought a new battery. Installed new battery. Everything got tested, starter alternator... Just the battery issue.
Wednesday:
I installed new tail lights (backed up into a pole, cracked the drivers tail light back in October.
Thursday:
Gave the car a full detail.. Looked beautiful again. Drove out for a raspado, battery indicator came on. Checked connections. All ok.
Drove to my aunts house to deliver raspados.... Wife got out of the car, said something didn't smell right. Opened up the hood... THE FREAKING ALTERNATOR WAS SMOKING!
Battery so dead the interior lights didn't even come on.
Called Triple A to tow it to the dealer.
Triple A proceeds to leave the car on the inclined driveway and attempt to put the car in the bed that way...
I could see the havoc coming, but who am I to tell the tow man how to do his job. Logic would only tell the man to roll the car down the drive way and then put it on the truck.
Stood there watching, wood planks, the whole 9 yards.. And tada the car is pulled of the wood planks, rips the front bumper off as the tow man is still pulling it on the truck.
Tow man throws his flash light makes big deal about it. Makes an unesscesary comment about how it comes out of his pocket.
Man couldn't give us a reciept which we found odd, seeing as we had no proof the man damaged the car if he were just to drive away. Finally got him to write down his information on a piece of paper and we were set to meet his boss on Friday morning at the dealer.
Friday:
Go to the dealership, boss is on time, as bit of a douche bag but he was there so he had that going for him. Acura was to facilitate all of the repairs, I was expecting the alternator to be covered under the extended warranty we had purchased and obviously Tripe A was to cover the damage. Got a 16 TLX as a loaner vehicle. All was swell.
Around 830 in the morning the service man called said I was sadly 2000 miles over the warranty and that the bumper would need to be replaced entirely.
Since the alternator service was to be done there, they let us keep the loaner until the car is done.
Tuesday: Still haven't heard a single update from the dealer. Wonder what all is going on.
I will say that the TLX is nice, but I absolutely prefer my 07 TL Type-S no questions about it. Thought I'd share with you my very interesting continuing events.

ouch.. sucks
not the type of progress threads we like to see
battery indicator on after a new battery should have told you it was time to move on to the next culprit: alternator.

are you on stock suspension and he still pulled off your front bumper?

Is your extended warranty from the dealer/Acura? I'd try for partial payment or special consideration. You might get lucky.
FYI, the dealer is going to rape you for installing an alternator. I'd let them fix the bumper and then install the alternator yourself. Even if you have to pay to get the car towed to your house, it'll be cheaper than paying the dealer to replace the alternator...

My alternator went on me last week as well. I was able to barely get home on the battery, and the alternator was smoking slightly when I finally parked.
Luckily I have a beater car I drove the rest of the week, and put the new alternator in over the weekend. Luckily it's fairly easy once you remove one of the radiator fans - having a copy of the service manual helped a ton.

On the plus side, you get a new and resprayed bumper that will be free of rock chips!

Yeah towing it proved to be more of a nuance than anything, but I do get a fresh bumper!
Glad mine wasn't the only one smoking... I live in an apartment complex so working on my car isn't much fun. Can't wait to have a house just to do my own shit.

Personally I wouldnt think of this as much of a plus, now unless he gets an excellent shop to prep and spray that bumper also making sure its an OEM bumper too and not used or aftermarket WDP is a very difficult color to get right.

It depends on the shop... I'd say this shop did a damn good job blending and matching WDPOn my rear here. Looks way better than from factory

I always fix my cars on the spot or if that is not possible due to where the location is, I will put said vehicle on my trailer and bring to my shop.
