Dude, the price of $1300 is a total ripped off and without the water pump & thermostat. Sorry!! Got mine done at a Honda dealer for $550 and that's including the pump, thermostat and tensioner. I think $900 is the regular Acura price with pump, thermostat and tensioner; at least in NJ.

The NGK IZFR6K-11? You can maybe get there for $8.99, but at this point it doesn't really matter. For under $70 you can get all of them shipped to your house.

Advance Auto Parts has a special currently online where if you use coupon code MISSUB5 you get $20 off orders over $50...
Using that discount code 6 of the NGK 6994 plugs (NGK IZFR6K-11) will come up to $39.94 + tax. ....that's 6.65 + tax per plug instead of 9.99 , just order online and choose pick up at store closest to your location.....

You are both welcome Gentlemen......

Well, I officially have gotten all my parts sitting in the garage waiting patiently for 105K.......103K and counting / 30% oil life left. I could jump the gun and do it early but I know how well I have cared for this car and it is in tip top shape. I will just hold out until its due the oil change and do everything, my brother in law's 05 TL will be going in for the 105 K this weekend though...

That's my KBP at one of the AZINE meets in Broward 2013

So, my '07 TL-S has around 106,000km. Got an email from the dealer stating that because the car is 7 years old it needs the timing belt service done. Nothing has shown up on the maintenance minder, and the car only gets about 10k per year. The service is normally done at 160,000km.

What is the accepted thing to do....can the belt be easily inspected for signs of wear or should one just do it as pm insurance? I was quoted $960 + tax including the water pump and plugs from the dealer. An independent that I trust quoted me $300 labour. I can get the Aisin kit plus plugs here for around $400 after exchange, etc.

at 105k for us... is when it SHOULD be done. I bought my car at 101k and they told me I was ok and didnt need to right away. Every service I asked about my belts and they said I was fine, until my last one last week when they said I might want to change them soon. Again, I'm now at 122k. Car hasnt given me any warnings, I just needed to gather money and had personal situations. So, Id say have them inspect the belts and then guage from there.

I see that listed with acura, the water pump is made by Yamada #19200-RDV-J01 . this conflicts the aisin information floating around. Now I dont know where to order as I dont want to piece a whole kit together.... to get the yamada water pump from!!!

Judging by your "LAWD" reaction im guessing your a Yawdy! lol...same here..... Yuh a overthink di ting too much enuh bredrin! Buy di AISIN KIT and yuh good to go....if yuh want OEM buy all di OEM parts and spend much more....quality on the AISIN kit is on par!! I am very picky and if I didn't feel satisfied there is no way I would put it on the type S......I believe Acura/Honda updated the pump from AISIN to YAMADA as many TLs/J35 motors have confirmed removing an AISIN pump when doing the 105k service

Haha!! No I'm not... know quite a few though!! I'm still debating because that kit has less than the kit that I posted.. with the cam seals and everything in it for a bit more.. I'll compare them again tomorrow.. I'm tired of looking at it.. lol

I 98% going with the AISIN from amazon, (ebay shipping takes too long vs amazon prime) I can handle the 20 difference for the fact of it not taking 5 days to arrive.... lol

Do you need the kit ASAP? To me, it seems like an easy way to save $20. Yet you wanted to save penny on a dime for the plugs...

I dont like spending and then waiting unneeded time for things. I ordered something on ebay tuesday, and its not shipping out until today. That's just the things I dont desire to have occur. I just picked up the kit and the belt off amazon... will arrive sunday!! Already have the spark plugs.. so i just need the cam seals... but thats simple enough to not worry about....

I imagine... Never had trouble with eBay purchases, usually ship the day I buy, unless it's at 10pm.
That said, RockAuto is also pretty much buy then ships right away.

In no means am I trying to be argumentative... but for me to have bought the kit from Rock by monday... would cost me $231 to get it.... their cheapest shipping is $9.86 3-4 business days... on a friday... would be earliest weds or thurs. If one it ok waiting, then this might have been better, and I do thank you guys for telling me about this site.. But its hard to beat 2 day shipping from amazon... imo

Hey, no big deal...each to their own! We all try to do what's best for our own circumstances. I just wanted to make sure you were aware of that website. Have ordered from them before with good results.

Im going with aisin plus bando serpetine belt. What worries me is that the timing belt from aisin kits is mitsuboshi which is made in Twain. I know that they are OEM supplier for Honda/Acura currently but I am thinking to buy Gates/Unnita Belt separately since they are made in USA. Not to mention that Gate/Unnita was OEM supplier to Honda/Acura, the same story with Aisin with Water Pump.

Or am I wrong that Gates/Unnita is still OEM supplier for Honda/Acura?

85K on the Gates kit, no issues. I'll be doing my 2nd TB job later this year using the Gates kit once again...

I just did my 105k service on a 2006 Acura TL with 101k Miles. The TB tensioner was leaking a ton of oil and the TB belt didnt have much tension on it. The tensioner isnt something you can even inspect until you have the timing belt covers off. I didnt have an signs there was a problem either.

If its time by either mileage or 7 years. Do it!

Done....check your inbox, told him to expect your call as well....he just finished my bro in law's timing belt/WP kit today and a bunch of other work - power steering pump rebuild, compliance bushings,etc....heard it start up and run ....zero issues, much quieter than before also!
