Parts Needed for 105k Service

Hello Again everyone.... Happy New Year!

Ive been debating paying the dealer for this service or having a mechanic do so to save some money. Im just trying to get the best price for this service, which will be the first big investment.

Is there somewhere I can find out if there is like a "KIT" that can be ordered with all the parts needed for the service or where can I find all that is apart of this service and I can possibly ordered from an acura parts websites found on this site. Im past 105, not worried but I dont want to keep going too much longer, and I feel i might need a tune up of sorts anyways.

I purchased all on Rock Auto.
-Aisin timing belt kit
-Aisin water pump kit
-NGK OEM plugs
-Gates tensioner and pulley (kit)
-Gates Micro V belt
-OEM thermostat and gasket from dealer

Got a mechanic familiar with Hondas to do the work. Under a grand for all parts and Labour listed.

That's the price of the job + the parts. Bring the kit yourself and you'll save money. Also get to know a garage, it's useful.

I can get all of that list under $500 either with OEM or good name brand like Gate or OEM supplier.

Paul, our mechanic in NJ, gets $400 for labor including a valve adjustment. Can't beat that one!

He does however recommend only using the Aisin kit for the timing belt/water pump job.

Really? Even our 04-06 TL's?
When my waterpump was taken out it was identical to the Honda pump. Only difference was the OEM had Honda logo moulded into the metal. Gates has a different propeller and such.

The cam and crank seals will be a pain in the ass unless it's already leaking.
Spark plugs are missing.
The kit for timing belt comes with an idler pulley and tensioner.
the kit for serpentine comes with idler pulley and a tensioner with pulley.

This is why i go with aisin kit

as you can compare old parts which were removed from a 3g tl which were oem and new parts which come in an aisin kit
the last pic of the non aisin water pump came out of a 4g tl so Honda might have changes supplies but i still installed an aisin kit for the 4g tl

Correction: The water pump IS!

What's important is that Aisin was the OEM supplier when our cars were made, so by buying the Aisin kit, you know you're getting original parts. Paul, our mechanic in NJ, recently showed me a water pump he took out of an Accord that had BOTH the Aisin and Honda names etched on it, and only recommends the Aisin kit. The Aisin kit also comes with Koyo bearings as Koyo is also the bearing original supplier. The ONLY Gates part to consider would be the Serpentine (main drive) belt.

I have read in a few threads that people have gotten the 105k timing belt etc. change in Honda dealers and that the parts were of course the same OEM parts but at a cheaper price due to getting it done at a Honda dealer as oppose to an Acura one. You should try calling some local Honda dealers and see what they have to say, hope this helps.

Im going to look for ASIN instead of gates. There are some FULL OEM parts kits on ebay for high 200s or low 300s. I'm going to read into it more and then purchase.... I went to the dealer and they gave me a sheet full of repairs needed...

I'd love to see some links in here for a complete kit, whichever you go with. I'm thinking of stockpiling the parts even though I'm only at 60k myself.

Just ordered for my 08 KBP TL type S and my brother-in-law's 05 TL.

I don't believe you can do it a more cost efficient way with OEM quality than the method I chose:

Aisin Kit EBay which includes the below - $185 shipped
•AISIN Water Pump
•AISIN Hydraulic Tensioner
•Koyo Idler Bearing
•Koyo Tensioner Bearing
•Mitsuboshi Timing Belt
•Water Pump Gaskets & O-Rings

Engine Timing Belt Kit with Water Pump Aisin TKH 002 | eBay

Bando Serpentine Belt (Amazon) - $ 20 shipped
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Serpentine-Belt-Rib-Ace-Precision-Engineered-V-Ribbed-Belt-BANDO-6PK2135-/151539125142?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item23486f8b96&vxp=mtr

OEM Camshaft & crankshaft seals - $19 shipped
91213-RKG-003 x 2
91212-R70-A02 x 1

http://www.ebay.com/itm/161588769651?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I Got 6 NGK 6994 spark plugs at advance auto for $40 ...($60 bucks with $20 speed perks discount)

So minus the plugs your looking at $224 total for parts...I noticed you live in South FL and said you already have a labor rate that you like.... but I guarantee I can get my friend who currently works as a senior tech at Acura to do the job for a better rate....dealership quality, small shop price...PM me if and when you are interested

Check RockAuto too.
Aisin kit is $178 w/ pump, Gates kit $138 w/ pump, shipping $6. Pretty much the same price, but you buy from one centralized place instead of different sellers.

My 2 cents.

Just recently had mine done at 99,xxx miles when the MID alerted me. Cost me $1,300 w/o water pump and thermostat. A little expensive than others but was well worth it, had it done at an Acura dealer. Car runs like its brand new!

Mitsuboshi is an OEM Belt Manufacturer for Honda/Acura.

From what I have seen they mostly make drive belts/ compressor belts , see below:
BELT, COMPRESSOR (MITSUBOSHI) | Genuine Acura | 38920-RCA-A03

Although the actual OEM belt for the TL is made by UNITTA, gives me piece of mind knowing the belt from the AISIN kit its from an oem belt manufacturer used by Acura on current models.

As it relates to my friend - he is down in Miami , but guarantee you that his price/quality work is worth the trip from the 954 to the 305!

Oh Aisin I know is the way to go, I was just concerned about timing belt it seems the difference in the price for the cheaper I posted versus your set is about the cost of an OEM timing belt...
