Newbie here!
Hello Ladies and Gents,
I am Tono and I am looking extremely close at a 2008 Acura TL 3.2L. I have no idea what goes on with these cars or the demand for aftermarket parts but I like to know what I am buying and I can not seem to find the Newb section on this forum.
I only have a few specific questions if that is ok
1. Did the 3.5L V6 come with TL's other than the Type S?
2. The J32A3 has a headifold set up. My 2013 Focus ST3 has the exact same set up and it limits power a lot. It also causes a ton of build up on the valves, and most owners have resorted to running meth inj to clean them up. Is it safe to assume that this engines operates the same way even though they are N/A?
3. What are the limitations on this engine from the factory as for as spray/boost? I have seen 500+ whp engines that had build bottom ends and tons of other videos that don't really specify build or power output. They pull awesome but I would like to know how much of a pain in the ass it is to make decent power out of these cars.
4. Finally, the car is an automatic and I wanted to know how much power people have ran reliably on them without completely destroying them?
Thank you very much for any information!!!!!

Welcome to the forum. While I won't profess to being an expert on the 3rd gen. TL, there is an abundance of knowledge among the membership here and so, give it some time and I'm sure you'll have your questions answered.
In the meantime, if you need immediate answers, please do try searching.

I am, I ended up coming across a thread from this forum that was posted on another forum lol!
Still not sure the J32A3 is the engine I want to try and set a goal with....from what I am reading a head swap from the Type S is kind of a must when boosting to get rid of the headifold......

Thank you for those threads I will read them very closely. I am willing to spend roughly $15,000 on a TL in excellent condition and I think that is fairly reasonable.

I would stay away from the AT if you wanted to get "serious" in any way. You'll only end up messing it up, plus there's the additional weight of the AT tranny & the somewhat boring gear ratios. Find a 6MT, and even then, you'd be better off with a RWD car. The 3G TL is front heavy (60/40...) so you're going to run in understeer pretty often without even modding the car.
The 3.5L only came on the Type-S.
So unless you're sold on the looks of the 3G TL or have a really great deal on one, I would say there's better contenders to be modded, and for cheaper.
