Also im just curious, I bought an a few lights from superbrightLEDS.com and i put em in my licence plate lights and backuplights, and one they wont stya in perfectly, and one of my licence plate lights is out, do u have any solutions? like bending it would help? gluing? thanks.

Typically with LEDs you want to bend out the metal leads a little. I had them in my old car and didn't do it, and ended up with "issues." In reality, the LEDs for some reason are slightly thinner than the stock bulbs and appear to be loose sometimes. One way that a friend of mine corrected this was to put solder on the leads to "bulk them up." Good luck with the LEDs in the license plate lights....I always had issues with mine flickering. If you have this issue, try the cold cathodes....if you don't know what they are, do a search. I have a feeling you'll like what you see.

Thanks for the tip on using tape to get the bulbs out!!!!! I used clear packing tape and they came out with no problem. The whole job took 15 minutes using a butter knife and packing tape.

This thread has been great. I actaully got the same ones on ebay that robbie82 got and put them in last weekend. They looked great, although it's never enough for me and I went back to superbrightleds.com and ordered some other stuff. I upgraded to 12LED Blue for the doors.

I actually had a question on the WLED-WHP LED Wedge Base Bulbs, they looked great, nice bright white but I COULDN'T make it fit in the interior dome. I was even sitting there shaving it down with my Leatherman. Has anyone else run into that?

I think I'm just going to go back and get the 9LED white for the interior and the 12LED blue for the door.

While I'm at it, I'd love to know if anyone got the UV LED"s for the interior, I know it's has zero in the way as function but it must look cool.

I like the look of the LEDs, but I was wondering one thing. I really like the pleasing dimming of the interior lights when they turn off after locking the car. Do the LEDs do this as well or are the simply completely on or completely off?

Like MMJK84 said they actually dim off, not as smooth or as long as the regular ones do, but they do dim. From the outside you cant tell all that much.

But trust me it look really great you wont regret it!

The Ultra bright white Michba LED's have a strong blue-ish hue, a little too strong for me. Reading literature is a little funky and disco-ish, but it's definitely better than the yellow-ish stock bulbs. I'd like to go more white oriented, does anyone know which model LED that is? I have the grey interior and the ultra bright white really has a strong blue tint to it, good, but not fantastic.

Does anyone know if you replaced the turn signal bulbs with LEDs do you need to put a load on the flassher or will the flasher mechanism handle the lower load of the LEDs.

Execellent, put these in today and look great, I migt have gone witht he W5 or W6 to get a tad more brightness, but the interior is way better now, makes the care feel classier instead of that poor yellow cast.

I used this thread and I ordered:

T13-R6 (Red for my Tytpe-S doors)
WLED-W4 White for dome/map lights (4 total)

And then I did the backup lights and license plate lights I beleive with 921-9 LEDs (4 total) and I beleive I used the same one on the truck light, but had to mod the holder and hot glue the bulb in.

I'll try and get some pics up soon.

RBP, could you list the #LEDS or bulb numbers you used and where you got them?
Thanks and it looks great!

Hey, sorry to ask this, but, I am having a bear of a time getting the trunk light out and I do not want to break it since it seems to be a little fragile. How did you rip that light assembly out? I tried prying with a screw driver and got it partially out, but was afraid to go further.

Any advice? thanks.

I was gonna ask the same thing. I've started a partial list, but there are so many bulbs and I've got so little knowledge.

You'd be doing the community a great service to list:

Location ..... Bulb Type ...... Purchase Source

Anybody tried the ultraviolet? I think it would look cool but might get annoying after a while... I thought about making my dome lights UV and then my vanity mirrors white for the times I need regular light... Any thoughts?

Seems to me UV would be a waste. When would you use 'em?

Only time I can figure is when you go, "Hey!, dude, check this out" click, click "Is that F'n cool or what? Changed the Bulbs myself :puffed with pride: ."

That's gonna get old pretty quick.

Guess you gotta do what *you* like, I'm just sayin' I don't see the point.

Thanks so much for your post. I made my order on the 8th and received the lights today.

Here are the lights I got:

Door Courtesy Lights (2) - Red T13-x6 Wedge Base
Glove Box (1) - Red 74 Wedge Base
Center Console Storage (1) Red 74 Wedge Base

Front and Rear Domes (4) - Cool White WLED-x6
Vanity Mirrors (2) - White WLED-x4

Trunk Light (1) - White 921-x12
License Plate (2) - White 921-x9
Reverse Lights (2) - White 921-x12

The Domes are great. Much brighter and a very cool/blue white color.

The Red Door lights have a bit of a "hot spot" - thinking about getting some red photographers flash gel/film to cut and put in the door light diffuser lens.

Doors, storage, domes and trunk are installed. I'll get the vanity, reverse and license plate tomorrow. Blew a fuse when I pulled the trunk light, so that put an end to the mod for today.

After picking up and replacing the fuse, the Wife said, "Didn't these lights used to be red?"

"Uh, no honey, they've always been white."

So we pick up my daughter from work. 1st thing she says, "Did you change these lights?"

So that sets my wife on the hunt again: "I thought you didn't change anything. Who do you know that has White lights? You got the idea from that internet place. That's why you broke the car."

"Uhhh .... uhhh, I didn't 'break' the car. And these are brighter. Besides, these are Lexus style white lights."

"Oh. Lexus style, well I guess they're OK then"

Done. Now just waiting Nokya H8 Arctic White fogs, which should be here this coming week.

For those following later:

This post of the Licensce Plate and Reverse Light Scans was a HUGE help:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124574

The Vanity Lights were a PITA. Broke the lens tab on one and scratced and bent the metal frame on the other. I hope the engineer who designed these rots in hell!! .

Here's a post with scans and DIY for the Vanities. Very Helpful.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...230#post767230

Thanks to all who came before.

Wink

I just finished installing the set of 6LEd's in blue, from a great Canadian supplier. The center console and glove box light were the toughest to get at. Thanks for the pics, it helped with the others.

Ok, My Acura Loving' peers out there...... this is how I changed my interior steering wheel lights (Bulbs...) in my 2004 ACURA TL

- You HAVE to remove the AIRBAG to change any of the bulbs on the steering wheel.... (pictures below)

Here are the steps....

1. You first have to remove the negative from the battery (unhook the battery)

2. You then have to remove the airbag plug from under the steering wheel. There is a compartment on the bottom of the steering you need to open and remove (separate) the yellow plugs in it

3. Unscrew the two screws (THE BIG HOLES) on both sides of the airbag (THIS IS THE TOUGHEST PART OF THE WHOLE EXERCISE)

4. Once you're done... the airbag should come loose and then depending on which bulbs are out...(the Cruise Control lights on the right OR the Radio volume and channel station control light) you can unscrew the silver unit from the back of the wheel and once that Unit comes loose it will pull out .... you flip it over and change whichever bulb is out....!

Then do everything you did in reverse and iput it back together.....

PICTURES BELOW.....

HOPE THIS HELPS MY FELLOW ACURA LOVIN' PEERS OUT THERE....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DONT HESITATE TO FLASH OR HONK WHEN YOU SEE ME OUT THERE.....!!!!!!

BE CAREFUL NOT TO FORCE ANYTHING COZ IT WILL BREAK.... IF YOU UNSCREW IT IT SHOULD COME OUT EASILY....

AGAIN... DO NOT FORCE ANYTHING....!

ALL THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!
