Agreed with 1black_seven as I don't believe they are x-compatible.

The 05 cats will fit the type-s, you will lose a few HP due to the 05 cats being more restrictive. Cats are expensive so make sure they are really bad before replacing them. The 3rd cat is under the car and most likely not damaged, so you may only need the two primary cats attached to the engine. The rear cat is hard to get to and might be worth having a shop do for you.

doubtful the cats went bad, certainly not all three. what makes you think they are bad? they should be under warranty for quite a long time as well as an emissions component.

Make it so
If you look up the January 2008 Service Bulletin, there is an article there about the three catalytic converters, the codes that each will give you if there's an error, and a nice diagram of where they actually are in the car:
http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/p0420/B080100.pdf
(Look on page 3)
As per the article (for anyone that doesn't want to click on the link):
Acura’s compact V6 engine uses three catalytic converters:
• The front warm up three way catalytic converter (WU-TWC) that’s bolted to the front cylinder head
• The rear WU-TWC that’s bolted to the rear cylinder head
• The under-floor TWC that’s downstream and mounted to exhaust pipe A
Both of the WU-TWCs are monitored and can set DTCs. Each bank has a specific DTC: P0420 for bank 1 and P0430 for bank 2. The under-floor TWC isn’t monitored and won’t set any DTCs.
A word of advice for the OP:
Replacing a cat is expensive. It's more common that the O2 sensor associated with that cat is bad, and it is cheaper to replace. You need to diagnose it correctly so you don't end up replacing a part you don't need only to find that you actually should have replaced the other part.

As Hi Speed said, the cats will physically fit, but the non Type-S cats will be more restricting. We sell our XLR8 High Flow Cat for $299 that will provide you with better performance

Get an infrared thermometer and go under the car. Point the thermometer to the cats and you'll see very quickly which one is clogged.

People say pre cat, but on these TL's the first component in the exhaust are the 2 PRIMARY cats. There is nothing before it or "Pre". After that there is another single cat in the exhaust pipe which is before the resonator and mufflers..
I assume you are referring to the single secondary cat in the exhaust pipe...
but I ain't boosting with a SC or turbo.

Removing the 2 largest and primary cats wouldn't that guarantee a fail on the annual emissions test? I was thinking about going with high flow cats. (I'm getting that rotten eggs or sulfur smell under hard acceleration)
but I still want the high flow cats to do their job.. so picking the right brand is key, for mw.
